Thread: Aren't you glad the DC died?

Not to mention the Sega Dreamcast came out 3 years after the Nintendo 64

The controllers dared to be different with the cord coming out of the bottom. AND the SWIRL...BY GOD THE SWIRL!!! AND the little orange light on the front!!! The way the VMU beeped because you NEVER EVER had a battery in it because it goes out so often. The Dreamcast was SEXY as hell!
look man, you could talk about how it was the first console that was really online ready and how it had four controller ports so you don't have to buy a multi-tap. but to talk about how it's white instead of black, or how the cord comes out of the bottom of the controller, or how cool the swirl was is just pulling stuff out of your ass.

Well, in that case I agree. It'd be stupid to be for it, but at the same time "not being against it" isn't exactly being for it.

I am sure glad everyone jumped on that one line of my post. Perhaps I should have edited and proof read it first. Sorry for the logical fallacy.
Erm...is this a sarcastic jab? If so, bite me.

  6. Eh, Dreamcast was cool, but it just wasnt gonna happen. I saw it coming in like... March or April of the year 2000, only about 8 months after the system was released. No games were selling. We had more people preordering PS2 than buying Dreamcast. There was no viable online solution (too little, too late). Sega fucked it up. They really did. They had a well-designed, cheap console with lots of potential. They blew it. All they ended up doing was pissing off 90% of the customers who bought the system (because most people dont like the fact that their 14 month old system becomes a paperweight and that they need to buy another $300 box just to play games) furthering souring them on ever supporting Sega games again.

    And the controllers sucked.

  7. What? The Dreamcast isn't dead! My most anticipated game of the year comes out in 2 months. You're dumb. Go away. I'm going home now.

/me cries as he plays CvS2

  8. I wouldn't say I'm glad that it died but its cool the games now can have better graphics and controller depending on your system of preference.

If the GBA market weren't so big you'd probably never have a Sonic game still kicking ass in 2D on the GBA. There may be a potentially good Sonic 3 game on one of the systems(GC most probably since it has the most Sonic games as well as the GBA-->GC connectability) along the lines. Shinobi turned out well with the better PS2 controller, Panzer got the great graphics, Super Monkeyball....well.....sold pretty well Viryua Fighter 4 looks good and sold well and so on.

Now don't get me wrong I still play my Dreamcast when I can because of the many great/overlooked and exclusive to DC games like Lodoss War, Jet Grind Radio, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, Project Justice, Maken X, Rush 2049, Vanishing Point, Cannon Spike, StarLancer and so forth. Technically its not dead yet because its still getting the SNK support with the KOF games and possibly SNK vs Capcom.

In all while certain games maybe would have benefitted from DC hardware(like Gungrave) I think it worked out to Sega's favor.

  9. As long as I can buy Sega games on SOME system, I'm happy.
