First Look on New Punisher plus more Hulk Info

John Travolta is the villian...well, that could be good or bad...it depends...my first reaction was negative but Travolta can play a good villian...might not be so bad....but then THIS:

The trade summarizes The Punisher as being about "an FBI undercover agent [Jane] who, just as he's completed his last mission that will lead to a cushy desk job, sees his family slaughtered. He becomes single-mindedly determined to exact revenge. Travolta plays Howard Saint, a former underworld figure who goes straight but returns to old habits after his son is slain. The two men square off against one another."

WHAAAAAT?!?!? Oh, fuck, this movie is doomed. Frank's supposed to be an Vietnam vet, not a FBI agent working a "cushy desk job". I have it when they fuck with people's origins...this movie needs to be bloody, raw, and gritty, and I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be anything but...

Well, we've been having good luck when it comes to comic book movies lately...Blade 1 & 2, X-Men 1 & 2, Daredevil, and Spiderman were all good, and The Hulk looks pretty good as well. Sooner or later we were bound to get a dud. At least we have it better than we did years ago where all superhero movies were campy pieces of shit. It's a shame they chose to fuck up a potentially awesome movie like The Punisher. Why couldn't they screw up, say, a Power Man and Iron Fist movie instead?

I went to the movies last night and they had the huge cardboard stand version of this poster set up in the lobby. Summer 2004, eh? That's advertising a movie pretty far in advance...

The problem is that these other comic book to movie adaptations can be for a wider audience whereas Punisher is definitely the darkest of the bunch. I mean for this to be anyway decent it needs to probably be NC-17 or a very extreme R. I assume it is totally going to go against the Punisher we know and love -- I wonder if they will even have Micro? They should have had him go up against the Kingpin or another cool villain not John Travolta who will outshine Punisher....
