Thread: Bakusou Yankee Damashi

  1. Bakusou Yankee Damashi

So I ran the terms "+yankee +delinquent +japan" into the old google while in the music lab earlier, as I didn't feel like playing any music and wanted to read about delinquent yankees. . .from japan. Anyways, I found out about this game.

    From Gamespot
Massively multiplayer motorcycles are on their way to Japan.

Square Enix has announced Bakusou Yankee Damashii, an upcoming online game for the PC involving old-style Japanese motorcycle delinquents. The title can be translated into English as "Souls of Wheel-Burning Yankees." The term "Yankee" is synonymous with "delinquent" in Japan, coming from trends in the 1970s involving rebellious youths cutting their hair in stereotypical American-rock-musician style.

According to Square Enix, Bakusou Yankee Damashii will be the first online MMORPG that will let players enjoy the world of Japanese motorcycle delinquents. There will be a number of goals in the game, such as to become the leader of all the juvenile riders in Japan, but the player can also just hang around in places such as convenience stores and chat. While Bakusou Yankee Damashii will involve motorcycles, it will not be based on racing. Instead, players will fight for territory, compete with each other by finding the weirdest way of riding bikes, play chicken, and participate in other events, such as the "day of the cops," where the game master, disguised as the police, will arrest the delinquents without asking any questions.

Bakusou Yankee Damashii is being developed by Atalier Double, and it will be published by Square Enix. A demo of the game will be released by Square Enix soon. No release date or retail price information has been released at this time.

Anyways, the premise means I'm obligated to be very interested in this game. I'll have a new PC come fall, playing a japanese MMRPG wouldn't be too difficult to get working, right?

    that's it~

  2. Thats right, I think...But it does sound interesting.
Freedom is a road seldom travelled by the multitude...

  3. It's just about the coolest concept ever, and i was ready to plunk down however much they were gonna charge until I saw the screenshots. Very disappointing. It was too cartoony. Broke my heart.

  4. geh? I didn't even know there were screenshots x_X

    goes to check

and I can't seem to find them. Must be my own ignorance no doubt. I suppose I'll check again later when I get back online =\

  5. I would've posted a link to the pictures if I could remember where the hell I saw them...I know it was that big Japanese site that always has the hott pixx, but I can't for the life of me remember its name. I'm having severe memory issues lately.

  6. Games Are Fun has the pics up now. I'd give up the direct link, but I can't access the site for some reason. They got them from Impress Game Watch or whatever that site's called. If only I'd remembered a week ago...

  8. You guys do realize that this is Racing Lagoon 2: Online, right? If not in name, definitely in spirit.

  9. Can you hassle shopkeeps?

  10. You can loiter. That may annoy a few.

    Well it's about time.
Yes. It is. About time. Seriously, at least in premise, this is the game I've been waiting for for years. Though I don't expect this one to get it right =\

Thanks for the link rummy. but games are fun isn't loading(must of known I wanted to see the screenshots). . .so after a little bit too much time checking for other sites that might have it, I found the site SquarEnix made for it.here

there's a FLASH thing on the site, I went through it:

First off, whoever designed those 3D models needs to be shot. Its as if they took the most awkward grinny panel from the smile happy Bebop Highschool and used it as a design template for the faces. Sickening. Its a shame too. WHoever did the art for the buttons on the left got it right. =\

    in game shots:

    girls room:

    at the conveni:

    rumble:

Its zoomed out and doesn't seem as bad. I don't mind the SD look, but its very dissapointing. =\
