Uhh... no it isn't. Unless you mean a thousand generals because even on Very Hard in DW3 the infinite footsoldiers are easy to pick off even if you're constantly surrounded by them. If you want a challenge, go up against Lu Bu on very hard with someone who isn't maxed out stat wise and using only their first weapon. No items either.I don't follow. Why would you even want to sit around for 1000 KOs, much less 10 times that amount?
Cause it's a challenge.

Well, you could always get a $15 dual shock 2 converter like I did, and get the best of both worldsOriginally posted by Ragnarok the Red
Actually, despite the extras, I actually prefer playing the PS2 version even though the X-Box version tends to have less slowdown and better visuals. The game just feels like it's designed to be played with the PS2 pad and is really comftorable. For some reason, I don't find the X-Box pad quite as comftorable. But to be honest, I prefer the controller S for DW3.
Every time I hear Xu Zhu's english voice, I think to myself that whichever 6-pack the guy got paid for that "voice acting", even if it was Bud Lite, it was too much. I'm gonna write Koei and ask if I can do voices for their next game. I'll even accpet O'Doul's if it means I won't have to hear stuff like that anymore.But...I could be swayed if the domestic X-Box release will contain the Japanese vocals the PS2 lacked (English ones make me cringe >_<). That'd probably convince me to buy it![]()
The Japanese voices aren't awesome or anything, but at least they're quasi-professional. And you can put on english subtitles if you don't understand it.

I think it is, you gotta keep a high ko count per min, about 100 or so to make it and it's boring as hell.Originally posted by Ammadeau

Then what does that make Final Fight, or Streets of Rage 2, or Guardian Heroes, or any other beloved beat 'em up with far less moves/combos, 1/10th as many characters, 1/2 as many stages, 1/80th as many endings, nowhere near as many enemies to fight, no online rankings, and ancient graphics?Originally posted by FuryFox
Yep. Ridiculously repetitive, and not the least bit challenging. Plus, the graphics and overall presentation were pants.
And DW3 is definitely challenging - it's impossible to get past the 3rd stage or so for many characters without levelling them up considerably in free mode. Seems easy once you're levelled up? That's why they put all the best items in hard mode.

Well, I'm not going to argue against that, since you clearly like the game and what it entails. Most any game can be difficult if you're going to master all the extra difficulties and secret stuff, but overall, I felt like positioning and move selection was more important in Final Fight (at least, as I remember it...ahh, nostalgia). Although for the record, those games are also very repetitive.Originally posted by StriderKyo

-however, I'm probably judging it on a more aesthetic level, and quickly grew bored of hundreds of the exact same enemy blink in and out of existence as I walk along a ridge of fog. And to hell with the heavy metal score...totally funked up the atmosphere for me.
I liked the concept, so if the Xbox version of DW4 has some work put into it, I'll check it out.
I think the problem most people have with the DW series is they don't understand they aren't supposed to fight peon after peon, they're supposed to mow them down to make a path to the generals who are far more interesting to slice up, especially at the higher difficulties. I guess Final Fight instilled the mentality of clearing away everyone in the area before moving on, but that's not how DW is meant to be played.

That's cool, I mean I don't think it's the best series ever or anything either. I just like the game's feel, think it's fun to take out 30 guys at once, and I like the Three Kingdoms characters and setting. I also think they did a good job of putting you on the battlefield and constantly giving you a variety of tasks to accomplish.Originally posted by FuryFox

I just don't get it when people deride it as reptitive or simplistic when it's far more involved than FF or SoR. As for the positioning thing, I think the main reason it's more important in those games is that DW is far more liberal with the health recovery items, which is necessary since you only get one life. DW is all about wading into an army and flattening them all, while older beat 'em ups were about trying to make it through as many stages as possible on your credit allotment.

Is it just me or does this series actually get worse and worse for each damn game? You can't even leave your general alone for five second or he'll get killed, you don't face any challenge except for the fact that you're a Dynasty baby sitter, please Koei, get your fucking act together![]()
The music (though never awesome but it sets you up for some killing atleast) is unbarable and I swear that the soliders are even more incompetent now. Xbox or not, don't bother with this piece of shit.
