Okay, what the fuck. Our language has rules for a reason - you put fucking "-ly"s at the end of adverbs when you use one. The headline above is from an ASSOCIATED PRESS article. "to Dress Traditional" would mean that the Afghan women were being urged to dress the concept of Traditional-ness, or perhaps someone named Traditional. You can dress traditionally - you can't "dress traditional". It's not even that difficult of a grammatical concept to master, is it?

Right. There's traditional dress and there's dressing traditionally. I'm thinking it's a conspiracy:

"No, no, you misinterpret. We don't urge dressing traditionally, we urge dressing Traditional. See, we don't want to see him naked. Please report this discrepancy as a misinformed Western propagandist construct because your translation is no good."

  5. You're kind of anal to go on about grammar. Who cares? Obviously you do, but an even more valid question is: Why?

  6. The Associated Press has their own set of grammatical guidelines and such. I'm not sure if this example is a violation of that though, since it has been over two years since I looked the AP style book.

  7. Jeremy: It's not style, it's just plain bad grammar.

Andrew: Shut up, go post elsewhere.
