I wanna do it myself though. Seeing as how I've never done it, I'd like to get the experience.

    Is it that hard?
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

It's a very quick mod to do but IIRC there's two solder points you need to do and they're tiny. I wouldn't risk it. Mine also has a switch yet the case isn't broken (it's under the control ports), something i'd never be able to do myself

Use TDK CD-RWs, they're compatible with most Xboxes. My drive is a Thomson and i've tried multiple CD-RW brands though. Make sure you're using xISO to create the ISO file to burn in Nero.

To put emulators/apps on the Xbox you need to install the EvoX dashboard and FTP across the files from your PC.

  3. Wouldn't FTPing through a hub or switch work as well?

    Yep.

  5. Hi Sidez,
I'am actually seriously considering getting a chipped Box,in part thx to your enthusiastic thread about emulation on JapJacs board.I'am really not too PC savy at all.Just recently got Final Burn up and running on my PC and I'am really amazed at the quality of some of the Roms, their really close to their pcb parents, especially the Cave shooters.
Couple of questions,1st off once installing the emulator on your console's drive is it just a matter of taking the roms you have on disk that you use on your PC emulator, leaving in a zipped state and loading the disc into the Xbox(as long as the disc is Xbox compatible?)2nd for some one who really doesn't know the lingo what exactly is FTP?
Any help at all would be seriously welcome.

Do NOT use xiso. It is very buggy and there is no reason to use it when there are GUI interfaces for GDFIMAGE now. This guy dedicated a whole thread explaining why not to use Xiso.

Hey, maybe that's why my Mame-X CD never worked properly? My Xbox reads it fine, but half the roms don't work.

Time to try a new program!
