I've decided to catch up on some movies I haven't seen in a long time, if at all. The crazy thing is that I'm going to try and watch them back to back.
I'm probably going to have to join all of the video stores in my local area to do this.
Here's my list so far:
The Godfather
Taxi Driver
Apocalypse Now Redux
Goodfellas
Millers Crossing
Dog Day Afternoon
Resivior Dogs
falling down
Cube
Event Horizon
The Player
The Big Lobowski
The Insider
Full Metal Jacket
The Shining
Dr. Strangelove
Fargo
Seven
A Clockwork Orange
Fifth Element
LA Confidential
In the event that I fall asleep (which in all honesty is more than likely),
I'll continue watching the movies back to back when I wake up.
got any other recommendations? I want as many good movies on that list as possible.
Preferrably, I'd like to get older movies so I don't have to spend as much Money hiring them.
please, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
cheers!
Blade

Don't know if you can find some of these at Blockbuster or wherever, but I tried to keep it to movies I've seen at a video store at one time or another. The two Indian movies are an exception, but I think Company had a worldwide DVD release.
36th Chamber Of Shaolin (AKA Master Killer) - One of the all-time kung-fu classics. Focused on realism, not chop-socky goofball stuff. I don't know if there is a good version of this out on the market right now. I rented a cheap version a while back and it was fullscreen, resulting in the subs being cut off.
Don - Indian gangster action film from 1978, starring the ultimate Indian badass, Amitabh Bachchan. Soundtrack by Kalyanji Anandji, later used as source material for the Automator's Bombay The Hard Way album.
Company - Indian movie from last year. Very involved and incredibly good gangster drama. The best Indian movie I've ever seen.
Wheels On Meals or Dragons Forever - The two movies that I think represent the pinnacle of the careers of Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, & Jackie Chan. Heart Of Dragon is another good one, with Sammo playing a retarded guy and Jackie as his brother. Individually, I'd say Sammo's best is Pedicab Driver (my favorite martial arts movie of all time, but rare and out of print), Yuen Biao's is Dreadnaught, and Jackie's is Drunken Master 2 (or The Legend Of Drunken Master, as it was retitled for US release). Any of these movies is worth watching.
The Streetfighter - Sonny Chiba movie from 1974. The man in my avatar. My favorite Japanese action movie, with my favorite Japanese action star. My favorite all-time movie theme song, too.
Barton Fink - Coen Brothers movie I only recently bothered to watch. As you'd expect, a really good movie. John Goodman in particular was great.
Tape - From Richard Linklater, the director of Waking Life, Slacker, etc. Filmed in 6 days during the animation process of Waking Life, the movie takes place in one motel room in Michigan. One of the most tightly written and directed movies I've seen in a while, and it's roots as a play really show in the complex characterization and, well, the fact that it takes place in one room.
God is Rome
