I hope that new direction = mah-jongg battle game.
well, i just hope that Kojima sticks to his word when he said that for this game, he'd like to take the series in a new direction. After a mass of speculation over the weekend and possible hints as to whether or not Metal Gear Solid 3 would be at the 2003 Electronic Entertainment Expo, a Konami of America representative confirmed for IGN today that the game would indeed be there. As to what form the unveiling will take (be it movie, screenshots, dancing bears, or what have you), Konami still has yet confirm.
Of course, this comes as good news for the skeptics of Friday's swirling MGS3 rumors. As several media outlets including our own had several conflicting reports concerning what was actually revealed in an interview with creator Hideo Kojima in the Japanese publication Hyper PlayStation Magazine. Depending on whom you talked to, the article was translated as either confirming the game's E3 appearance or just confirming the fact that game would be ready to be shown at an unknown date.
Regardless, the mystery is now 100% confirmed by our American Konami representatives and we can expect to learn more on Metal Gear Solid 3 next week at the show.
it would be nice to see something new in the series (although i wouldn't mind classic MGS style gameplay).
i don't blame Kojima either, he didn't even want to work on this. still, im sure we'll get something great.
im actually pretty curious about what Kojima plans to do though.
watch out of nowhere he makes it so that the series has to end (story wise) so that Konami can't force him to do another.
who knows what they're gonna do with this story wise though. i get the feeling that the story will be a big factor in deciding what the gameplay will be like this time around.

Well, I'm looking forward MGS3. I liked action parts of MGS2, its the convoluted storyline and preachiness that made it less enjoyable to me. Lets hope Kojima sticks to what works best - Action.
Damn. My appt. with Konami couldn't come any sooner and offer more excitement. *jumps up and down*
Actually, Kojima's original plan was to end his run with MGS2 and hand over the series to another director (presumably sans the Solid-suffix) while staying as producer. MGS3 was planned for the PS3, but due to fan demand, Konami forced Kojima to do MGS3 on the PS2 and as a result, Kojima decided to return as director.
I wish Kojima would dish whoever wrote the asinine script for MGS2 and have David Hayter write it instead. X2 was awesome and I heard nothing but good things about Hayter's proposed Watchmen script. Having him do the script for MGS3 would be awesome. If they can have William Harry Gregson do the music for MGS2, then I don't see why can't they hire Hayter to write MGS3 (especially since Kojima has Scott Dolph as a personal interpreter/translator).
hey bahn, need um....a camera man like last year with Namco?Originally posted by bahn

pleeeeeeeeease![]()
I thought the cinematics, story, and voice acting in MGS was much more impressive than the gameplay, which was still great. MGS2 was a different story though.Originally posted by Despair

This and Gradius are my most wanted PS2 games. I bought the system mainly for Konami's games, and I don't regret it.
For IGN, can't.Originally posted by Lucas Barton

that's right. as producer, he also planned to write the script. im just saying that he didn't want to direct another MGS game, and wanted to work on something new. instead he got forced into making this again. sucks for him if you ask me.Originally posted by Johnny Undaunted

im sure developers get tired of having to work on the same thing over and over again. he gets a chance to do whatever he wanted on GBA, and look at what he came up with. im not sure if that Botkai game (or whatever it's called) will be any good, but you gotta give him credit for trying new things. because of that, i'd love to see what the guy could do if he got his choice. last i heard, dude wanted to work with GameCube hardware.

im sure everything will work out just fine!
Well...what I meant is those in attending the event have to want you in on the meeting. (Four deep is quite a large number too). If they don't care, I don't. But I guess if you just film and smille it's all good. I won't be there so it doesn't matter to me.![]()
