i still think it should be 50 for the live starter kit and 40 or 50 to renew as opposed to raising the price of entering the service

i meant that as in when you buy an Xbox live starter set you dont have to buy the head set seperatly

menaing the 70 bucks gets you a head set and xbox live starter kit not just the starter kit and then having to spend another 30 on the headphones

I think it's great. It's about time that the early adopters are rewarded. And for everyone saying that $70 is too much, wake up. Everyone pays more then that just to play Phantasy Star online anyway. You're looking at at least $120 just for PSO for a year. And don't give me any BS about no one will still be playing it then. I'm sure other games will be out that you would pay a $10 a month fee anyway.

Hey, maybe they've "lowered" the price for Live. I can now pick up say Wolfenstein, then get a Live account for $5.99 and play. You don't need the headset to play (it helps), but if you want to buy one it's $30. You might not be getting as much, but it is less of an initial investment for the "on the fence" consumer than having to buy the game AND drop $50 on a year subscription.

I must say I am impressed that Microsoft isn't gouging too bad, I thought for sure they would. The example price structures in those early surveys I took were more than this. ( $100 for two years, $79 for a year was it? )

I think I read somewhere that you can use a generic headset (like from Radio Shack or something) with an adapter. Is this true?
