Reports surfaced earlier in the year hinting at an upcoming feature film based on the 1980 blockbuster <i>Spy Hunter</i> franchise. Today Midway announced that they've obtained the rights to go full throttle with the motion picture in conjuntion with Universal.
Midway will bring the dynamic action and spy themes to the big screen as WWE Superstar The Rock will star as the lead character Alec Sects who drives the world's sophisticated vehicle - the G-8155 Interceptor.
To aid the feature film on the right track, Universal has brought four of the most talented professionals in the entertainment industry together - Chuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh as producers and Michael Brandt and Derek Hass as writers. Brandt and Hass most recently wrote the screenplay for Universal Pictures’ "2 Fast 2 Furious," the major motion picture sequel to "The Fast and The Furious."
On a related note, Midway will also unleash the highly anticipted sequel <b>Spy Hunter 2</b> to all next-generation platforms later this fall. Fans can look forward to an all new dimension of intense missions, new enemies and a new mysterious character serving as a supporting role to Alec. <i>Spy Hunter 2</i> is just one of several games to be featured at E3.
