I, however, would like to have as few Xbox games as possible. Come the next generation of hardware, my PS2 games will move on with me. My Xbox games, however, will not.

And so far, for the games that I like, I've yet to see an Xbox port that was really better enough to make much difference.

I just can't believe this will be true until it actually happens. Especially since:

The Xbox port of Hot Pursuit 2 is vastly inferior to the PS2 version.

If you are hating on the Xbox then you are really missing out on some great games. I used to be like you, all about PS2, but now that we are later into the gaming generation of these three systems, the PS2 shortcomings are really starting to show. The first Fatal Frame just plain looked better on Xbox as did Silent Hill 2. I am buying Silent Hill 4 for Xbox, as that one will look and possibly play better too. I still do love PS2 for JRPG and quirky Japanese games though.

My feelings towards the Xbox are love/hate. The hardware is great, but unfortunately it comes from the company I dislike most in life.

The games... there are a handfull of games on it that I like, but I'd say the GameCube has just as many good games as the Xbox. (In my opinion.) Graphically, the Xbox is better, sure, but that's only natural, as it came out later. As well, the different is not always nearly as big as some on here like to have others believe. I've got maybe ten Xbox games right now, and I've almost got every game that I want that has been released on the Xbox up to this point. (And, to be honest, a few of the games I have now are ones I only have because they were free with the system or through some promotion.) I think the Xbox is a great piece of hardware, but seriously lacking in good games FOR ME. Without question, the two main factors for me even having an Xbox are Xbox Live and JGR Future. If the PS2 or GC had a service the quality of live, and had a wide variety of online games, I could easily see getting rid of my Xbox. (Or just turning it into a media center.) Simply having the console just to have the same games I could have on the PS2 or GameCube, just with slightly better graphics, seems like a waste to me.

I have both versions of PS2 Silent Hill 2, and played the Xbox version as well. I'm sorry, but the changes were not nearly enough for me to claim it superior. And when you look at SH3, that game was gorgeous - thus I expect SH4 to look just as great, if not better, on the PS2. If the Xbox was a huge step up in difference, and if Konami put enough work into an Xbox version to make it a huge difference, I would care. That, however, won't be the case.

And, as I mentioned before, I'm still giving Sony the benefit of the doubt when it comes to PS2 support on the PS3. I won't have both an Xbox or an Xbox 2 - it'll be either or. I'd rather not have a huge library of Xbox games that I won't be able to play if I move on to an Xbox 2. Call me an idiot for thinking like that if anybody wants to, but that's fine.

And while this isn't directly at you specifically, the last thing I want to hear from this place is why I shouldn't be coming down on the Xbox, when all half of this place does is bash the GC.

I really don't understand all the Gamecube hate either. I love Nintendo's games and the Cube can put out some really nice graphics. I think the stupid Nintendo fanboys, the ones who ONLY have a Gamecube, sour it for the rest of the people. I have all three systems and like all three for different reasons.

Thats not a port, ace. Its a different game, done by a different team.

    Gamespot:

While the Xbox and GameCube iterations of Hot Pursuit II are in fact exact ports of one another, they're markedly different from their PlayStation 2 cousin, and in this case, "different" doesn't mean "better."

  9. Yea... the Xbox and GameCube versions are ports of each other.

If the Xbox and GameCube versions were ports of the PS2 version, then GameSpot would've said that. They didnt.

    Thanks for proving me right.

I'm weird about my sequels... I'd rather have SHs 2, 3, and 4 all on the same system instead of jumping back and forth. So I'm getting them all on the PS2.

It's not rational, but that's the way it is.
