Thread: Anyone else LIKE GC & GBA connectivity idea?

  2. I haven't read the rest of the thread... my opinion of the subject stated in the title, however, is simple: as long as the connection remains purely supplemental, I have no problem, as soon as being without a GBA becomes a signifigant obstacle to fully enjoying a gamecube game, that's when it becomes irritating.

  3. Then you may not dig FF:Crystal Chronicle. It's ambitious in the sense that it's the first game I've seen where the GBA-GC connectivity is for more than just downloadable minigames, extras, etc. The GBA is actually being used to take a game concept (4-player RPG) and make it feasable. For everyone to able to manage their crap through the GBA as opposed to stopping the game to pull up an on-screen menu makes it less irritating. Imagine if you played with 3 buddies who had to continuously screw with their inventory, and the game had to stop every time they did...

If anything, connectivity seems to get more interesting as it becomes more vital to actually being able to play the game. Getting a GC game that has a GBA setup in mind from the get-go has more possibilities for interesting mechanics than a GBA option as an after thought or 'extra.' And that's the rub, ultimately - the more you integrate the GBA and GC, the more people you disenfranchise, but the less integral the two are to each other, the more of a 'gimmick' it seems to be.

People should not buy handheld devices, period, and shit like this is proof.
    ???

But... I like my SP. I get to play games at the office. It's got some unbelievably good games on it. Where're the negatives?
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

  5. I think that he's reffering to its negative impact( in his opinion) on gaming as a whole. If Phantasy Star 5 is a GBA exclusive, I'll have to join him in his GBA hate.

    That about sums it up.

    Where exactly was the "outburst"?

  9. Would it have been so hard for Nintendo or Square to include a little payne menu at the corner of each players screen so that the game didn't immediatly stop when someone wanted to do something?

No, it would've. Nintendo and Square and every company involved seems to be fixed that it will sell more GBA's. But most people will NOT play a game if they don't have the GBA required to have fun with it, it's too much money.
