Already have an SP, and the GBA-GC adapter holds no interest for me.
It's a good thing that some kick ass PC games are coming out this year or else I might have to forfeit video game playing for quite some time.

  2. Great news for me, I sold my Gamecube long ago, and have been waiting to get a new one and couldn't be any more excited over the Game Boy Player.
Too bad the Game Boy Player didn't come out a year ago or so, it may have given Nintendo a shot at the #2 spot behind Sony, in the console wars.

    Whatever.

    Cheapskates.
    Hell yes.

If they are doing this, within 1.5 years of launch, around 2.5 these things should be at rock bottom prices.

The games and GC will still be there when I can get it for 20 and 100 dollars respectively.

    Not necessarily.

If I were in Nintendo's position, I'd do this from day one. Put it at $100, bundle with at least one game. Make it cheap enough so people would be compelled to buy it from the start, which increases market penetration. Blitz the market, force Sony to take notice.

Unfortunately, Nintendo chose to launch at $200. The price drop to $150 decreased consumers' confidence in the system. Another price drop would decrease their confidence even more.

  5. You could say the same thing about the PS2 and XBox, which both started at 300$ and are now at 180$

  6. L, do you not think that the GC will ever sell for 100 Dollars?

I sure do, and I'm going to wait until then.

Probably next year...I'm waitin for the PS2 to drop a little more and hope they redesign like th PSOne...by that time there will be so many games to get in the greatest hits line.

It will, you are not wrong.

However, I believe it is currently worth a purchase -- especially with the GBA Player offer.

Think of this though: The GC will drop to $100, and Nintendo will most likely cease any free stuff offers at that price. Will the GBA Player or the free games currently offered drop to $0? No, I don't think so. You'll still have to pay $100 for the GC + more for the GBA Player or a game. It's not like you'll be saving money here -- you'll eventually be able to get the game you want for cheaper than it is now, but you're still going to have to pay more than $100 to play it.

  9. It's not worth 150 to me, and I'm willing to take the chance that it will fall to 100, with a game or a GBA Player, even if it means waiting. When Nintendo is all but giving the things away, I'll bite the hook then.

I really wish I had taken this approach with the XB.

  10. Jesus, this sucks. I don't think early adopters have ever been more screwed than this generation.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.
