So I finally popped my E3 cherry and I had a lot of fun but I was both overwhelmed and underwhelmed by many things. I was busy running around but suprisingly played very few games. I don't want to get into individual games (for the sake of brevity) but some of the things that stood out for me were the HALO 2 real time demo (frothing demand is an understatment) and waiting for the Half Life 2 demo and just giving up (4 hour wait?...I'll just download the trailer). I spent a lot of time at the SEGA booth (mostly playing VF4:EVO) but I was saddened by SEGA's diminished presence but I did enjoy most of their games. The Nintendo booth was very impressive and it felt like a totally separate space from the rest of E3 but I almost got killed by tripping over a step and crashing into a guy in a pokemon suit. They probably had the most diverse lineup of games at the show. I was turned off by the sheer volume of 3rd person shooters/action games (a la max payne/devil may cry)--there were so many!
I mean, I like the genre but this was tantamount to overkill.
It's shockingly easy to crash the con. There are a LOT of young/youngish people at the show (I though the minimum age was 18) and every other person looks like comic book guy (t shirt, goatee, shorts, ponytail--rolls of fat optional). The food was overpriced; There were some really amazing looking booth babes and some ridiculous cleavage; the american idol game is ass. Oh and DDR for XBOX Live! --that was a surprise. Sadly, I didn't really seek out other TNLers but I think I saw Satsuki prancing around somewhere. Hope to be there next year...

okay, naw, i was actually probably with my boyfriend and a LOT of bags.
anyway, i'm not an e3 noob, but goddamn that show is fun. If it weren't for the asshole companies. (sony anyone?)

Media badge wasn't too great, huh? Did you at least get some good swag? I am pretty satisfied with my haul but I know I missed out on some multi-neon colored Google pens and nVidia lunchbox.

Bah, I missed out on the SC2 t-shirts. Watching Lucas hug the giant Pikachu and then getting chased away by the Nintendo reps for doing so made me feel better.
Whats up with Time Crisis 3 being playable but without the guncon, lame.

for the record, im not a Pokemon or Pikachu fan or anything, it was just pretty damn big and was just asking to get tackled. of course i couldn't do that, so i did the next best thing. i hug it, and start spinning it around. but the time i was almost done with a 180, the person inside pikachu started screaming, and some Nintendo reps said i couldn't do that, and i walked away very fast.

I had to wait in a 2 hour line for the Half Life shirt that Sl1p so very desires XD I didn't get an SC shirt, and that pisses me off.

but anyway, yeah, just cause you have a media badge doesn't make them any more cordial to you. a lot of the companies were really bitchy, just when i asked them for a press kit. SNK was hands down the nicest(in personality) booth. Sony was the worst. Konami was nice too.
ps-most of the booth girls were asstacular. Did anyone else see that awful Nintendo dance? YICK!
the two i really liked was the asian chick at Sudeki, and the Lei Fang at the DOAX show.
