Thread: Finest Final Fantasy?

  1. Final Fantasy 7 all the way.

  2. I really like most of the characters in 4... and that is the first one I played... so I voted for that..

I hated 6... crappy plot, boring Kafka, lackluster characters...

tactics and 7 are up there...

    i never played 1-3,5,or 10

  3. VII and Tactics are my faves, with Tactics leading the way.
    matthewgood fan
    lupin III fan

  4. FF3/6. I had no problem with the World of Ruin. People have bitched about that section so much and for so long I have to wonder if they really even know why they dislike it.

  5. FF2/4j > FF3/6j > FFX > FF8 > everything else

I know exactly why I dislike it.

Waking up a year after the world ends and randomly traveling around the world, conveniently bumping into all your old pals and buddies is one of the biggest plot contrivances I've seen. It was dumb, and it makes me wonder why the game garners so much praise.

It did have a ninja though, and that was cool.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  7. IX all the way! Followed closely by VII.. haven't finished it yet, i should though. Seems the characters and plot really develop and snag you in.
You can never be one of the dead, because something that has no existence can have no community.

    Hey I said >most<

Still I found finding all the characters all over again to actually be quite fun(Not to mention all the side shit you could screw around with) and wasn't enough to derail the solidity of the rest of the game. Surely Kefka's fortress made up for any negatives in the wor.

  9. I actually never finished it. I was playing a ROM of it, and the controller I have for my comp must be fucked up or something, cuz the Blizt moves for Sabin never worked. It made the game pretty frustrating. After I got up to the World of Ruin, I had had enough.

Maybe if the plot was good I woulda been compelled to play through. But, that was not the case...

  10. I put FF9. I don't really have much of a manifesto for it (it's just the one I like best), but here goes (keep in mind that I've not played 5 or 10)...

It had a better abilities system than any of the games before. It was also more of a challenge.
I like the whole aesthetic and story of the game, at least more so than the angsty, weird-for-the-sake-of-weird stories of 7 or 8.
The characters were actually likeable. At the very least, it was easier to have empathy for Zidane than it was for Clod or Leonardo DiCaprio.
Maybe I just have a soft spot for it considering that the series is so heavily concerned with parafuturistic themes that it feels like an entirely different series than it did years ago.
