Thread: Atari LYNX

Bill and Ted is admittedly very hard to get in to. So is Electrocop for that matter. Once you get over the hump (and getout of that Egypt level) it's pretty fun. God the music is terrible though.

And say what you will about the Lynx port of STUN Runner, but it's the best one you're getting.

Hell yeah. That is the best home version of it around. While Domark tried on various home computer systems, none of their ports could match the Lynx one. The Power Drift style scaling sprites in this one really approximate the arcade well, even though that used polys. You can get no better than this for a home port.

You do have one of the best Lynx games (Slime World), but you're missing the really unbelievable ones. Try Blue Lightning and Roadblasters; the latter is unquestionably the best home port of that game ever made.

  4. I remember talk of the 16 player games back when the Lynx came out (and commercials suggested playing them in the bathroom at school).

What games support this number of people? And the question is, are any of them good?

  5. Slime World supports at least eight players (possibly sixteen), and yes, it is very good.

  6. I don't enjoy playing Slime World in single player. Should I?

  7. Am I the only one who bothered with CyberVirus, btw? I've never seen anyone bring it up. I really liked it though.

  8. Slime World supports eight players maximum. Multiplayer game #5 on that cartridge is particularly wild. I think it's an enjoyable single-player game, too, but you'll get the most out of it if you can play it multiplayer.

I agree with the people above who feel that the Lynx version of RoadBlasters is the best home version. I also have the Genesis version, and Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PlayStation (which contains RoadBlasters), and while both are decent enough, the Lynx version just seems to have the best feel to it.

I haven't tried CyberVirus yet, but I think it looks great! I'll probably order it one of these days.

Some of you remember the famous Lynx commercial with the kids in the bathroom stall. But, did you know that one of the kids in that commercial was Tobey Maguire, who played the role of Spider-Man in the recent Spider-Man movie? Now you know!

  9. I always wanted to get a Lynx for the version of Gauntlet it had.

I thought the new character classes were the coolest thing back in the day. :/
