Thread: Morrowind GotY edition?

  1. The mods avaible for the PC version are a big plus. This new expansion looks to add a lot to the pre-existing game. I havn't tried Tribunal yet however.

  2. "Players can take their existing characters and continue their adventures in a new product, which is a first for a console game like this."
Guess these guys have never heard of Suikoden or Shenmue...

That's not the same. Your entire character is transposed from Morrowind to the GotY edition. In Shenmue, everyone was Ryo. In Morrowind, your character isn't (though it could be) the same as anyone elses.

Your entire character hops on over, not just stats for the same guy everyone else is using. It is a first.

  4. Captain Vegetable: It may be a first, but it's not remarkable in any way. The expansions just use Morrowind's existing palette and build on top of it, so essentially, it's simple to port over a character, since the main files are exactly the same.

  5. Not to be redundant, but... I love you, Bethesda.

I never, ever, said it was anything close to remarkable. I was simply correcting LordPerrin.

This kind of stuff, though apparently new to the console world, is age-old in the world of PCs. Not remarkable in the least. Matter-of-fact, it kind of makes me go, "What the hell took so damned long?!"

  7. When the hell did this game win GOTY? Which company gave that to them?

  8. I'll be getting the xbox version because no one has yet shown me a mod that's worth dragging out the PC version for. I remember the mod scene when Morrowind originally came out, kept track of it for a couple months but there was nothing really worth while. No surprise considering how limited the editor is.

  9. whats really great is the fact that it will only be $30

Actually,if you check their home page,mw has been winning awards left and right, but i think the "Goty" thing is more pr then an actual designation. As i said on the other thread ,groovy, i will be buying this when it hits (fall,so far).
