Thread: Are you getting Mega Man Network Transmission (GC)?

  1. Hm...according to the new GI, MMNT is a lil disappointing. I am looking forward to it actually...because much like ferricide, I too am a recovering Mega Man slut.

I started on Mega Man Battle Network 3-Blue/White for MXB (I could post my impressions if anyone's clueless what it's about) to get me going again (which is realistically identical to the previous 2 more or less). The GC edition is a nice alteration, and I'll have to play it a bit more to see what the fuss is really about. I didn't think it was that bad when I played it last week.

  2. Well Lucas's lil' rant makes me think I will like the game, when someone just says, "Its sucks, trust me." it usually means, "I did'nt play much of it." I think it looks cool, so I'll buy it.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  3. Well...he is right. It is slow paced, but I suppose that was intentional in order to be relative to the pace that was in the handheld editions. However, this would seem to be a failed attempt to put the network version of Mega Man in a platform atmsophere which will be received somewhat poorly by the true, die-hard fans.

    ...to be continued.

  4. The videos of this game look pretty lame. Definitely not worth $50.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  5. I haven't played the import (like Lucas) but the U.S. reviewable was insanely hard. You can upgrade your mega-buster so that you can fire more rapidly and that your shots do more damage .... Assuming the Japanese version is as hard as the U.S. one, If you beat the game without doing those things, than you're either a commendable gaming god or uh, you're lying.

Also, due to the Battle Chip system you're constantly running out of weapons, having to wait around, and generally getting your ass handed to you by the bosses. Seriously, I'm good at oldschool Mega Man games and I thought the difficulty here went beyond challenging to 'frustrating'. The music is good, and the graphics are stylized yet uneven...but overall, it's really nothing special.

we'll see about that. i can't possibly be the only person here that's played it.

you guys really should just take my word for it, but whatever, it's your money that's going to waste.

still, anyone who's played the game, please back me up here.

But everyone ragged on Shinobi for it's difficulty, and it turned out to be just fine. I found that game to very satisfying and rewarding. Like you felt good after beating a stage or a boss.

So, even though this game looks pretty average on all other fronts, I don't know what to think about the difficulty that everyone seems to be talking about.

So the game is built to force you to upgrade your weapons in order to advance.

What's so hard about that? Does anyone have any patience anymore?

Lucas, how much did you upgrade your weapons?

  9. Game sucks and has yet to fail at making someone a hater within the first level. Don't buy it. If you REALLY wanna play it, rent it, though thats still not worth it. Level design is rather pitiful with forced difficulty as opposed to actual challenge. Graphically it's really nice though, and the music is good too.

  10. ""Yes, let's shift gears and discuss pretty much every game ever made.""

Are you kidding? The bulk of games today, The Silent Hills, the Resident Evils, even the platformers are just a matter of "when you beat them" and not "if you can beat them". Very few companies want to gamble and make games *gasp* difficult, they are afraid of chasing away sales. I mean, if you have to make an effort at a game, then forget it, seems to be the mantra of this age. You have played a game within the last five years right? The vast majority require more time than skill.
