Thread: No more PSO...ever?

Umm... but Magic and Yugi-oh both suck ass. Thus, PSO III will suck ass. But hey we already knew that.

As for no Crazy Taxi... WOO HOO! Time for celebration! This is fucking great news!

As for NiGHTS... I have a feeling that Naka believes he got it right the first time, and he cant envision real improvements in a sequel other than the graphics. I respect that.

As for Shenmue... whatever. I can only hope that, because of the spectacular failure that was the Shenmue games (at least sales-wise), Suzuki's ego will be deflated somewhat.

No, but I wrote that real fast as I was about to leave, so it does come off a bit confusing.

I meant it as, when the original story came out, I personally got the news from Gamesarefun.com, who quoted Famitsu for the interview with Sega, since someone asked for proof.
    R.I.P Kao Megura (1979-2004)

  3. PSO most likely has nothing to do with a offline PS coming out. If they did do one, the team is overworks. Naka should still produce it though. I think that was the original team. Naka and overworks.

It's called PSO, not PSV. Why anyone would blame a spinoff for a sequel not coming out is beyond me.
It's not like Sega named it a part of the series like FF11, or made a sequel to the worst FF ever.FFX-2 and FF11 dellayed the real game, FF12. PSO didn't delay shiet.

  4. Shenmue III has not been given a green light to go ahead
with development. But if the third title was to be created,
Yu Suzuki stated that the final 16 chapters would all be
squished into the one last game.
    FUCK NO!!!!!!!

Finally some good news, a sequel to Shining Force is still
in the works, despite no news for over a year.
    MOTHER FUCKING HELL YEAH!

  5. GIve me my Phantasy Star V, Sega!!!!

  6. The funs over. Now is the best time to put an end to this off-shoot series. Perhaps sometime in the future they can return to it and make it a real mmo and something worth paying monthly for.

  7. Golden Axe, Dynasty Warriors, or capcoms D & D games gameplay with PSO rare items/weapons/mags and chat bubbles = where Sega should take the series. I hope they do that with Spikeout. They could make this series WAY better than MMRPG's and for free.

  8. I like PSO, but after v1, 2, and ep1&2, it's getting worked without any new real improvements.

But then the irony sets in - with CARD they are actually trying to do something different with PSO, and killing off the series after one try at mixing things up. Lame.

And no - if PSV isn't in development, it's not because of PSO. It's because they don't think it'll sell. Do you think it would? Sure, PSV would be cool and all, but compare how popular Phantasy Star was back at its peak, and how well PSO has done. Why give up on one title to dedicate resources on another that, by all guesses, will sell less?

Nah - I think PSV has never even been mentioned or thought about. At least not by Sonic Team. And now no PSO - at least it was fun while it lasted.

No new NiGHTS is disappointing...like usual. Which means it comes at no suprise. Naka has repeatedly said that he doesn't want to do another NiGHTS, so this announcement is nothing big.

Crazy Taxi started as a neat idea that could've been a cool franchise, and just got worse with each sequel. Good to be gone, but still a shame.

Shenmue III - I thought they were just making it a movie now?

On the bright side, a new Shining Force. Maybe Sega can piss you all off by making it a card game, something with collecting monsters, online, or an action/RPG (ala Shining Soul). Or a strat-RPG would be just fine ^_^

gamesarefun has more retractions than stories.

    i don't consider them reliable.

  10. I highly enjoyed PSO. PSO Ver.2 was just an upgrade at best and not really a sequel. I would have loved a true PSO 2, but with the time it takes to make such a huge game, I can see why Sega does'nt want to invest any more money into it. I'm sure they broke even on this little venture, because of the online servers and manpower involved.

I really don't like the idea of Card Battle, is that really the way to play an online game?
