I don't know how much I can trust a gamesarefun article...Ferricide, I got the original story awhile ago on Gamesarefun.com, and they quoted it as an interview from Famitsu.
No more PSO? Hrm. Pity. Crazy Taxi I can live without, but if Shenmue isn't wrapped up...

Good. PSO is almost as shitty as Rez.
begging for attention aren't we?
You know what pisses me off more than the fact that they aren't releasing these games? The fact that they need tomake a press release about games they aren't making. Sega needs to cut the unannouncement shit, it's stupid.
what do you expect? it's sega.

The DC Ver.2, was Version 1 with 2 added levels, higher level characters and one more difficulty level. What was PSO Ver.1 and 2 on the Gamecube? Did'nt they just add another 2 levels and 2 more characters? That's hardly what I'd consider a true sequel.
im not gonna bother talking about all the stuff added to Episode II, but just know that there's a reason that they called it Episode II, and not Ver 3.
it's a full fledged sequal alright. a damn good one too. great fuckin game.
I love PSO.
It's my favorite game ever. And I really mean that.
Already I have about 90 hours logged into the Xbox version. I gave the GC version about 60 hours before I got tired of the FSODs (and I was anticipating the Xbox version coming out a lot sooner than it actually did) and traded it in. I have somewhere around 100 hours on the DC games (a combination of v.1 and v.2). That's a lot of hours so far, and seeing as how I've barely scratched the surface in the Xbox version as far as levels (I'm only 94), items to collect, and areas to finish (I haven't beaten ANY offline levels on Ultimate yet, and I need to finish Ep. II on V.Hard) I'll probably be playing it quite a bit more.
Unlike Lucas, I do NOT consider Ep.II to be a true sequel. I just think of it as an expansion pack. But imagine how cool a real sequel could be. Fundamentally, PSO is pretty freakin' old, and even though the new stuff is kinda pretty, the game is still at it's core an upgraded Dreamcast game. If a sequel was made with Xbox and GC in mind, they could do SO much more.
I think pretty much anyone who's played PSO can see some major potential for improvement in it. And, to be terribly honest, if they just made a version 4 with the original battle style (I don't know about this card stuff) and a shitload of new items and maybe 4 new levels, I'd start all over again and play it for another 100 hours. But a REAL sequel would be on par with a TRUE new SOTN for PS2, and an online enabled WWE licensed Aki developed wrestling game as far as games of my dreams go.
See, that doesn't make any sense to me. You enjoyed the game 2 years ago, right? But then you got tired of it. Why wouldn't you be excited about a NEW game? You can't be tired of the new game yet, it isn't even out! Of course, I could see you not being too excited about a v.4 for or something, but if it was a true sequel, you'd have no reason not to be interested.Originally posted by Jeremy
I would have been sad about this news two years ago when I actually enjoyed PSO.
