Thread: Ticket writing frenzy in NYC

Though, you have to admit, the guy came into office at the worst possible time, right after 9/11. The man had his hands full.

In another example of people being pissed at some of Bloomberg's policies, all the bars that are being hit by Bloomberg's 'no smoking in bars' law are getting rid of their State-run Quick Pick machines in protest...
I agree with you 100%.. Guiliani was an excellent mayor and did a fantastic job with the city. It was one of the safest cities when he was around and he totally fixed up Times Square..etc.. but most people still hated him due to his confrontational and argumentative attitude towards people. I dont get it.. his hard nosed attitude is what made the city great and would've voted for him again if I had the chance (even though he's a yankees fan )

And you gotta feel sorry for Bloomberg.. what a time to become mayor of NYC. I think this ticket business is bullshit but he's doing an OK job considering the circumstances and I dont mind the new smoking policies at all. In fact I endorse it when it comes to restaurants..though not to bars. As for the quickpick machines.. I never heard of that issue. Dont you mean QuickDraw?? I know tons of bars have those.

  2. I am also in the "Don't blame Bloomberg" party.
Im not usualy up on state politics however, it seems as if Albany has left NYC to fend for itself. Thus the @$$h013 ticket spree.

Oh and if this does create an "Escape from NY" type future I have first dibs on the Snake Pliskin moniker

The front page of one of the papers today was about a (5 months) pregnant 18 year old who got a ticket because she was sitting on the subway stairs, because she got tired while waiting for a train.

Oh, maybe it was QuickDraw, then.

As for the no smoking thing, I don't care at all. I don't smoke, so it doesn't affect me, and it's actually kinda nice to come in from a night out and not have my clothes reek of smoke.

    Hilarious stuff.

  7. this sucks - how come we let this crap happen? What the hell... tickets for sitting on milk crates, subway steps... jeezz.... I wish people just refused to acknowledge these tickets - or everyone appealed them to higher courts - just to cause the NYPD a little bit of trouble to show them that ticketing these types of things wasn't going to fly in NY. Oh well...

  8. I wonder why everyone is praising guiliani like he's god....ever since 9/11 it seems like every bad thing the guy did was nullified...

I mean...I remember a guy gettin a plunger up his ass and the mayor at the time stood up for the cops no matter what......I remember an unarmed man being shot 19 times for no reason..and the mayor did nothing but stand up for the cops...all got away with murder in the end... I remember when another unarmed man was shot for no true reason and the mayor decides to release a public statement saying that he was a former drug dealer 10 years ago so it was okay to accept it. fuck dat shiznit.

The man also had personal problems like cheating on his wife and all...(which isnt any of our business, but he's a public figure..so he's responsible no matter what)

I'm not saying this guy didnt do anything for NYC...he probably was the best mayor we've had...but he definately shouldnt be praised like he was the greatest motherfucker who walked the earth just because he looked good on camera during 9/11. He went from "adolph" Guiliani to St. Rudy.

Plain and Simple...The dude couldnt handle race relations, police brutality, or any other type of corruption out there.

Again, Not saying he didnt do any good...just saying he wasnt ALL THAT either.

Exactly. I noticed that shortly after Giuliani left too... I was like, wait a second! I havent seen that in a while! Fucking guy is ruining the city... Nercm, he wasn't perfect, but like you said he was probably the best mayor NYC has got so far, and that has to count for something.

When I walk around the city, or am in the subway, or what not, I do NOT want to see homeless people. I do NOT want to be hit up for change fifteen times a day, then get yelled at when I don't give them any of my hard-earned money. They are called "undesirables" for a reason. What I am saying may sound cruel (and it may make left-wingers like spacecowboy cringe), but shit its the truth and no doubt many of you agree with me.

In Santa Monica, an otherwise beautiful place, there are zillions of bums. Its seriouslly really ugly, an eyesore, and it probably keeps a lot of people from coming back to the place. Giuliani, I dont know what the fuck he did, but bums really weren't around when he was in charge, God bless him. And Times Square went from being a gaping shithole filled with drug dealers and prostitutes to a place where you'd actually want to go.

This whole turn of events is seriously so ridiculous that Im thought it was a parody at first glance.

Yea, because people get a ticket everytime they break the law.

  10. Nercm, Giuliani deserves all the credit he gets and then some. No, he wasn't perfect, but he so totally transformed New York City that it was a shell of its former self. Crime was down, bums were gone (what happened to them? Perhaps they were gound up and served by the corner hot dog vendors), the city was safe and clean. He really made Kotch and Dinkins look like the total fuck-up, worthless, shit-for-brains losers that they really were. Those assholes really just took up space when they were in office. Giuliani is the measuring stick that all future NYC mayors will have to live up to.
