Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection loses big on the PS2 because of its lack of multiplayer modes. As is, the single player game is fun the first time through, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a motivating reason to go back through it. Still, if you're looking for some no-frills first-person action, RTCW: Operation Resurrection will do the job and do it well. But rent first, as, depending on what you're looking for, the game's limiting lasting power may or may not be worth the fifty bones for admission.

Presentation
Nice cutscenes tell the story, and the control scheme is fully customizable, but there's no multiplayer! 7.0
Graphics
Sharp textures and a quick framerate marred only by a few graphical glitches and a horrendous kick animation. 8.0
Sound
Great themes during gameplay, fitting voice work, and a boom to the guns that will have you running for cover. 8.0
Gameplay
You shoot, shoot some more, pull a switch or two, then shoot once again. Solid, if a bit monotonous. 7.0
Lasting Appeal
You could always go back and try to find all the treasures and secrets, or try the other difficulty levels, but that's about it. 5.0
OVERALL SCORE (not an average) 7.6

How about neither? The game was a piece of shit to begin with.Originally posted by Yoshi

No Multiplayer mode? Not even Co-Op??? Sucks.
I still need to play PC version, I have laying around for ages.

The game was a piece of shit to begin with.
I played both the PC and Xbox revs. The solo game was decent looking with great sound fx, manageable controls (yes, both revs), and offered some challenge on the higher difficulty settings. Further, I still think it's a great multiplayer game (again, both revs) with intelligent class designations and some great maps. Finally, as often said, killing Nazis just doesn't get old.
Too bad, though, about the apparently lackluster PS2 rev.
"Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"
My question is, what the hell happened to co-op? That was supposed to be the PS2 version's remedy for not having online play.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein IS a piece of shit. Well, maybe its not that bad, but it IS the type of generic, no-name, brings-nothing-to-the-genre type of FPS that all the haters think the entire genre is like. The multiplayer is decent, yes, but its kinda hard to screw up DM or CTF nowadays.
The single-player mode is such cheap and generic garbage. I'm surprised they scored it even that high.
Agreed. I found RTCW too boring to stick with after the first few levels. Soldier of Fortune 2 beats it, IMHO.Originally posted by Mode7
