Thread: Burning an mp3 CD

  1. I had considered a CD MP3 player for the car, but ended up going for a hard-drive solution. There was a Kenwood unit but it required a Kenwood head unit, so I went with the Neo Car Jukebox. Nothing like having your entire CD collection on shuffle.

    How much did that cost?

  4. You can get the 20GB version for $379.99. It uses standard IDE hard drives, so upgrading is pretty easy from what I hear. I've only got a little over half the thing full, so I haven't had to worry about it yet.

Oh, and if you want decent audio quality (FM modulators are ass), either make sure your head unit has an aux. input, or that it is compatible with the Neo CDC adapter (currently certain Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine and stock VW stereos work).

I've got an Aiwa head unit that would be good for that. It's pretty high quality, but since it doesn't have a whole lot of extra features other than being a really good cd player it makes it cheap, in the 100-150 dollar range, but it DOES have an aux input in the front. I recommend it since I think it's like the only head unit that has an aux input that doesn't cost a LOT.

A bud of mine insults me that I actually have WIRES running in my car when he has a FM modulator.

  6. My head unit is the Clarion DXZ525, that I got for $100-150 or so brand new. It actually has an aux in (right and left RCA jacks) in the back of the unit, so you get the best of both worlds - no crappy FM modulator, and no visible wires.
