Thread: Finding Nemo

  1. Finding Nemo

Saw this with a friend today and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Some truly funny moments and in true Pixar tradition they give the adults some quality material as well as the kid friendly stuff. It looks absolutly beautiful (the lighting is simply amazing), but be sure to see this in a nice theatre, there is some quality surround sound in this one. All of the characters are done cartoon like (even the humans) especially with the facial animation. I'd say this has the most *action* moments of any pixar film to date and really moved along at a nice pace. I've loved every pixar movie so far (I'd put Bugs Life at the end of the list) and Finding Nemo continues the tradition. IMO Pixar has some of the most talented people in filmmaking today (mad props to the animators). Highly recommended.

  2. I'll be seeing it next week, can't wait. Brad Bird's (Iron Giant) next film will be by Pixar, and there is a teaser for it on Finding Nemo. It's called The Invincibles. Did you see it?

  3. Yeah I did! It said Pixar before it and I thought it was weird that Pixar would get 2 films out in a year. It's probably 1:30 teaser and was pretty funny. Animation style resembled the way Jimmy Neutron looked. I really liked Iron Giant, so I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.

Oh yeah and there was an old Pixar short called "Knick Knack" (iirc) that ran before the movie. I don't recall ever seeing it before.

  4. Hmm, at first I wasn't really interested in seeing this. The original trailers made it look pretty boring.

From what I see advertised now, it looks like a pretty fun movie. Of course, my wife says we have to go see it, so I don't have much of a choice in the matter.

Odd, I don't recognize the voices of the two protagonists from the footage I've seen in commercials, who are they?

  5. The Invincibles is due out in 2004 and is about super hero humans. The whole thing is to prove to people that they can do decent looking humans when they want too, as well.

There was a special on Pixar on TechTV and they talked about it pretty openly. (how they don't have the best track record with humans in their films) It was cool. I'm definitely going to see Finding Nemo, just a little bit later (maybe next week or the week after) when the theatre is cleared out of more snot nosed kids.

  6. I think Nemo is the guy who plays Robert (Ray's brother) on Everybody Loves Raymond but I'm not sure.

  7. Ellen Degeneres does the voice of one of the two fish trying to find Nemo. Though I'm not positive who does the male voice.

Well, Nemo is actually the fish they're looking for. The main character is named Marlin, voiced by Albert Brooks, the great West Coast comedian.

I'm going to wait a few weeks. I'll be able to see the outtakes and not have to deal with obnoxious kids.

Oh, thank you thank you. It's been bugging me for a while trying to figure out who that was. He has one of those voices that sound familiar, but if you don't see it with the face, you have no clue who it is... at least for me, that is.

  10. Nemo, as far as I know is done by a child. No idea who though. No outtakes in this one, just some little character things during the credits. Cameo appearance near the very end of the credits.
