Thread: Have you ever been driven to piracy?

  1. I hate to admit it but in the PSX days when I was sure that there was no way in hell that DDR would have come out here I'd get my hands on any version of DDR I could find in China Town.

    Driven to? No.

Do I own pirated games? Yes, 2 for the Playstation.

I've never been "driven" to it, because whatever I want, I can almost always find. I've never paid for pirated goods, nor have I ever made any on my own - I was given the 2 burns ( discarded by their previous owner ), but I later took the time to seek out the legit copies.

I couldn't care less about keeping EB and Gamestop in business. Ditto for people selling Radiant Silvergun on eBay.

  4. Piracy just sucks on every level. Evaluation, "I never would've bought it anyway", "It's old", blah blah blah blah

Either do it or don't do it. Please don't make excuses for it. =P

Emulating an arcade game from 1976 by a company long dead isn't the same as having a pirated PS2 game. Some piracy is harmless while other piracy is possibly harmful. I'm not making excuses as I don't care what people do either way but I don't think all piracy can be viewed in the same light.

    Fair enough. I do it.

However, pirated games do tend to leave my HD after a while, either being relegated to the ether void or being replaced in favor of a legit.

Fuck your shades of gray. Everything is clearly a black and white issue. Emulation is responsible for billions of dollars in lost revenue for the videogame industry. I can make up numbers to prove this if you doubt me. Plus, there are laws against it. We all know if something's illegal, it must be immoral. Like gay sex! And certain consensual heterosexual sex acts in some states.

  8. I was a gigantic Pirate back when modding your PS was all the craze. I think I owned a little over 400 "backup" PS games. It ruined my gaming life, I got so bored tring out all these new games and never having time to play 'em longer than a half hour. I didn't do much with the DC, just had a few of the pc & arcade conversions (quake, SI, Pac, etc...). Now unless it's something I can't get any other way (Thrill Kill) or something I own that's going for so much on eBay (Inteligent Qube) I'll burn it and keep to play on my PC, I stay away from bootleg stuff.

Now I just download a ton of TV shows and steal all the porn I can
