I have'nt played Shinobi on the PS2, but after seeing the video, I'm sold. The game looks intense!

Naw, he'll still smack you if you don't slash at him. He has no problem with Hotsuma standing there and getting hit.![]()
Touché. Point taken.![]()

Oh, it is. For 20 dollars or les, it is a steal. Lots of replay value (and getting through it once will be a challenge). You can go for S ranks, use 3 characters that all play quite differently,...yeah, it's awesome.
Yeah, I've noticed that the price has come down. SOmething I was waiting for. I'll defineatly pick this title up in the next month or so.Originally posted by BoBVila

I've tried it about 10 times tonight. Building up the tate is easy, landing it on him is as hard as ever. He is ALWAYS doing something when I have my tate ready. The tate only lasts a few seconds, but his spells always last a split second more. Around the second go I've lost my sheild spell, and he's done a couple fan rushes on me and it's over. It's up to luck, pure and simple.

Yes, some of the tating is up to luck, but ALL his attacks can be avoided. Just don't get hit, build up your tate as best you can (try to go in a sequence that leads you to Hiruko), and just let that motherfucker have it.
Sure, you're not gonna hit him every time, but a good tate takes away a decent amount of damage. Just try to last as long you can.
It's definitely difficult, but definitely doable.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
but ALL his attacks can be avoided.
You can avoid the fan attack? Every time? You can also avoid his giant 5 beam laser while dodging fire bullets from 5 fans at different directions at once?

Apparantly.
Not everytime of course, but enough. Is the fan attack the one where he teleports? If so, that one can be avoided by using the dash move. At least that's what I did. He usually never hit me more than once with that. You just gotta press that X button like there's no tomorrow.
The 5 giant beam laser can be avoided by knowing about it a split second in advance. I always just did my best to go between the lasers. It worked most of the time.
Like I said, it's fuckin' hard, but definitely doable. Just practice!![]()

I was reminded of something while playing this game again tonight (besides that the last boss makes want to blow my fucking brains out)- it's the best 3D action game ever. DMC and Rygar come no where near it. Those two games move at a plodding pace and are about posing and cool backgrounds. Give me fully rotatable backgrounds and a free camera and let me go. It's really sad this game didn't reach as many people as it deserved to, it's rare when a 3D game is more intense than it's 2D predecessor.

You know, I just bought this game, and although I'm just starting to get the hang of the combat, I think it's the best 3D combat system I've ever seen. I've got no problems with the camera (fully manipulatable, Capcom! :P), control, lock-on (I use click), or anything really. The buttons are fully customizable. Hotsuma is a dream to control. Combat doesn't get old, and there's almost always room for improvement. It's tough, but I always have the sense that I can do better, and the thing is, I want to go through stages multiple times to get maximum tates, avoid damage, and find all the secrets. I've only reached 2-2 so far, but that's because I keep replaying the stages.I want to get really good before tackling the later bits.
The only bad thing about it is that I waited so long to give it a chance. (I also wish there was a Boss Rush Mode to practice tates with, but that's minor).
Bravo, Overworks. Badass indeed. It's been a while since I've played a game this fun, involving, and challenging, and even longer since I wanted to become really skilled at a game in addition to beating it.
