Great thread, but the Soul Reaver connection is a bit of a stretch.

Wow, I wonder if this thread will cause some competition between NeoZeedeater and xs for quality and content.
Good job.
I actually found a Haunted Castle cabinet (not dedicated) at a bar in South Jersey. The game played like poo poo. Nevertheless, I tried to see if the owner of said bar would be willing to part with the HC machine. He told me "no" and later sold it to someone else![]()
I dont know...... I used to think that Soul Reaver was how CV should have been done in 3D when I first played the N64 games.
Btw, there's a Windows remake of CV2 if anyone is interested.

I forgot to mention Mystic Defender and its various sequels. They also remind me of CV.
Yeah, I got all my pics from there. Outskirts of Castlevania was also useful here.Originally posted by Yoshi

And I never meant to compete with Nze in any of these threads.
Various others I have done.

It's sad to look through those, and realize I have almost every castlevania, except for IV (which is my own fault) and Dracula X. And the arcade ones.
Is Konami still thinking about porting Dracula X to the PS One as part of it's Chronicles series? I know the rumors been flying around forever, and even the head developer at the time said if the fans want it badly enough, it can happen.
I'm still hoping for that day, because the SNES port isn't too good.
And wow, now I now where Konami Man comes from. He was in Goonies II, and I thought he never served any real purpose. I'd always punch him in the face until he got mad, lol.

Yeah, almost exactly the same. The vampire hunter in Suikoden II is definitely a nod to the Belmonts.Originally posted by xS
Isn't the vampire theme song in Suikoden similar to that in the Vania series?
Some things - you left out the arcade version of the original! And isn't there a Castlevania Adventure III?
Also, I think you're being a little unfair to the orignal GB Castlevania Adventure. It's certainly not the best of them, but it also wasn't really a bad game.
And now I want to go back and play 8 Eyes again. I don't think I ever got past the second level when I played it 14 years ago, but I wonder if I have the chops now...anyway, good thread. Keep 'em coming.

Not to mention he took some of the factoids I've mentioned in previous threads (including the bit about Castlevania 32X).Originally posted by Yoshi

A few more nitpicking corrections (aside from the ones mentioned):
KCE Kobe DID NOT make the Saturn version of Dracula X, it was made by KCE Nagoya (makers of Castlevania Legends). They do not deserve the blame on this one (personally, I think they get too much flakk).
Vampire Killer (the MSX Castlevania) was not called that in Japan. It was named Akumajou Dracula, just like the original Famicom game. Vampire Killer was the European name (and I'm guessing it may had been a proposed name for the NES version).
BTW, just so you know, Castlevania Legends is non-canon.
Konami used to be one big company with several teams within working on different consoles (a PC team, an NES team, a DMG team, an AC team, ect.), but when they splitted into several developing teams in '95 (Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo and later Japan and Studios), nobody was willing to take credit for each individual Castlevania game, so Konami decided to have each team make their own Castlevania game. KCE Nagoya did Legends and Dracula X for the Saturn, Kobe did the 64 games and Circle of the Moon and Iga and co. at Tokyo made Symphony of the Night and Chronicles. Kobe and Nagoya are long gone though and the Castlevania seems to be safe at KCE Tokyo's hands.
A similar happened with Policenauts. Kojima developed the 3DO version when he was at KCE Osaka (which had since merged with Konami Studios), but then he made the PS1 and Saturn version when he got transferred to newly-established KCE Japan to make Metal Gear Solid. Because of this, KCE Osaka took credit for all three versions.
