Zillion kicked ass. Better than Castlevania any dya of the week, and twice on Sunday.
Excellent thread man![]()
I guess you've learned the benifit to waiting.
I agree, they should give people like you something. Perhaps a kick in the balls would do nicely and make you slightly less retarded.

I'd like to point out that there is nothing confirmed linking Treasure to any Castlevania apart from The Castlevania Adventure (which, I might add, is not as poor as you claim it to be).

Yes, this is a very nice thread. Its great to pay tribute to one of the top 3 greatest game series of all time. I only have one problem with the thread.....and its just a matter of opinion...and it is that...
The N64 Castlevanias are NOT awful games. I never quite understood why so many people hated the N64 Castlevanias. Sure they probably weren't as classy as Symphony of the Night, but I have to admit I HATE HATE HATE the Metroid style Castlevania games. I recognize the Metroid style Vanias for there quality but I will never play any of them over the classical style of Castlevania games. For this reason, and this reason alone, I really enjoyed the N64 Castlevania games. Both of them played just like a good REGULAR Castlevania game but in 3-D. The Nintendo 64 Castlevania games had the classic great mixture of platforming and action. Furthermore, some of the later levels in both C64's were plain old platforming gold! For some reason I can't remember the name of the levels but there was the one level that looked all dark with disappearing crystal like platforms, then there was the lava looking levels, and then not to forget the good old clock tower level...In short, I just think that the Nintendo 64 Castlevania games were fun. They both had there share of great moments that will go down in Castlevania history as well. For every gameplay moment I remember enjoying in past 2-D Castlevania games, I also remember enjoying a part of the N64 Castlevania games. Personally, I think that Castlevania 64 got a bad rap for being 3-D and ugly looking instead of 2-D and prettyI will give you guys the fact that C64 looked like shit, but I will stand by the fact that it was great fun. It almost seems like most people were turned off by the game and never saw through to playing it to the end. This is the only conclusion I can come to because most of C64's best levels were toward the end of the game. Is there anybody else that actually liked the Nintendo 64 Castlevania games?
By the way, the PS2 Castlevania better not play anything like Devil May Cry because I will be very disappointed if it does. I know lots of people liked Devil May Cry but I just couldn't get into it. I would even go as far to say that DMC is trash BUT I think it will piss off too many people.
I played that CV2 homebrew game. It was actually really good. I don't agree with you on the SNES CV game. I liked it, but I think the 3 NES, and the Genesis games were much better. I guess it all comes down to personal taste. I have to track down some of those old NES CV style games and check them out. Great thread.
I think it's pretty well known that the guys who became Treasure worked for Konami before they left and formed Treasure. I believe the last 2 games they made for Konami were:Originally posted by sleeveboy

CV IV-SNES
Contra III-SNES
Not entirely true. The only Treasure guys who worked on Contra III were the lead programmers, Nami and Yaipon (who has since changed his name to Yaiman) and if you ask me, I don't think those are their real names.Originally posted by Nigel-The-Landstalker

Contra III-SNESThe director, Nobuya Nakazato, stayed with Konami, where he made Sparkster, Vandal Hears and most recently, Shattered Soldier, while composer Miki Yanigisawa did the soundtrack of the Suikoden games.
Yaiman was also one of the programmers behind Super CV and I think he was the only Treasure guy to worked on that.

As many of you may know, several of the staffers behind this game went on to form Gamefan worship material….Treasure.
Anyway, cool thread, I like CV. I'm not a hardcore fan, but it's still a frachise whose new releases I look forward to and really enjoy. Rondo of Blood, SotN, and Aria of Sorrow are my favorites.
Kudos on the thread, XS. Spellcaster on the SMS was the predecessor of Mystic Defender (based on the Peacock King anime/manga I believe) and it featured questing and levelling up as well as action sequences (kinda like Castlevania 2). I have to disagree with you on Zillion as well--it was a cross b/w Metroid, Impossible Mission with puzzle solving thrown in and 3 interchangeable chars--I enjoyed it.
Just wondering if anyone out there have the 32X game?XS piqued my interest.
Didn't know anything about the 32X CV game.
I got CV Chronicles ages ago and still need to play through it. Looks awesome. My pile of shame is gigantic.
