Thread: Shenmue II

  1. MVS is actually quite helpful when he's not acting like a dick. Even then he's funny. I've actually listened to his advice, and I didn't even post a review (I do write developer documents though).

If I was nice everyone would want something for nothing. Fuck that.

  2. Whoa, did MVS's alternate personality take over again?

  3. No, somethings's fucked up and I don't see images, attachments nor quote boxes.

I'm not making a joke here, but I am curious.

Here's what I don't get- you've said you can't read books anymore, so how do you read this forum?

  5. I can read the forum due to a computer monitor having a high-resolution display, which helps take quite a bit of strain off of my eye. I CAN read books via the lower part of my bifocal lens, but due to it just destroying my reading speed, I choose not too. Plus, my sight still isn't stable, so this does tend to change from day-to-day. On a good day, I can read slowly with my bifocal, or slower with my bare eye. On a regular day, I can't.

Gotta protect those swedish man-thighs, eh?

I think you're helpful in a feild you feel passionate about (writing). It's apparent that Jeremy is happy writing the way he does, it's sad. I'm no master writer, but when I edit I can write a good short story. It takes many drafts, though.

How does reading from a screen enhance your viewing? Because you can turn the font size way up? That sounds like a load of b.s., since you'd have to scroll so much. And since when people offered you free links to that master writers teachings, you simply didn't take them.

Jeremy, you've proven you'd rather do nothing. They point out flaw and negative point after flaw and negative point about your reviews and how to change it, and you continue to say you have nothing wrong with your writing and it's excepted. Until you admit it to yourself, you will continue to write shoddy reviews, bottom line.

HI resolution display does not eleviate strain on eyes. The strain comes from the consistent refreshes and adjustments your eye makes. The font is the same size, the only solution would be to raise the font size of your browser.

HI resolution display allows for more pixels. Letters are basic forms, they are not complex images. All lettering can be seen the same at a mid level res, the same as high level. The size goes up, but the result remains the same. This is why all photoshop teachers recommend a 72 dpi range for online. Anything else is ridiculously oversized for marginal to no results. Higher resolutions are used for things that have need for a better rendered display, like a videogame, movie, or colourful image.

    You're lying...

I can't believe I just said that. You were the only person I knew on these boards when I joined, and yet you're sitting there, lying to me because of a stupid rivalry you have going on with them... sad...

  7. Reading from a HIGH-RESOLUTION SCREEN, key thing there, helps take some of the strain off my eye. It does some of the work for me, so to speak. I DID read that book link that Burg sent me. As for writing "shoddy" reviews, that's in the eye of the beholder. I've done quite a bit to improve my reviews in the past, and clarified ALL of this in my huge post in Sleeveboy's FC thread.

Also, I never said that I was happy with the first version of this review posted on the board. As I've told a few folks via AIM, I left way too much stuff out of the review, and didn't feel that I got my points across all that well because I left so much out. I rectified some of this though in the revised version, which I've said before.

How does it do that? Letters are defined in pixels. You'll see the same thing in a lower resolution. Anybody with a basic photography course or photoshop course under their belt (or some basic reading) would know that.

Don't patronize people. You did 'alittle bit'? Why not do it all while you're at it and just improve all the way? You're simply doing as they say, marginally, to eleviate the pressure you're recieving for your reviews.

I'm not calling your reviews an insult to the english language, I'm not calling your review asstastic. I'm simply telling you that they aren't very good. I've never come down on you like they have beforehand.

So what's your excuse now for not trying to improve, Jeremy? A wise Jedi master once said: Do or do not... there is no try.

  9. I don't know what it is, all I know is that text is only easily readable for me if there is some sort of a screen involved. It could be that my bifocal, which limits my sight considerably in terms of scope, is a key reason. I can see more text on a screen than I can in a book, or a mag.

  10. I would have believed your story of computers being better if you had said you moved the letter size up. Because the images would be physically larger and therefore easier to see.

But you didn't, you played the resolution angle, which is ridiculous. A nearsighted person can't see the difference between high and low resolution. They won't make out an E or a V. This is why eye exams have different sizes and not definitions of a letter. This is how I know you are lying, Jeremy. Or maybe even that you have the gamma turned up on your monitor would suffice.
