Thread: Tecmo and Ninja Gaiden

  1. Do you happen to know what all of the "Tecmo Cinema" brand games were?

Ninja Ryukenden III and Radia Senki were two of them. I don't know the rest.

I also wondered why they changed Ninja Ryukenden to Ninja Gaiden here.
Nevermind Ninja Gaiden doesn't make as much as Ryukenden, they just traded one Japanese word for another.

  3. Mighty Bomb Jack is a very strange game, I own it for the NES but have never really put a large amount of time into it but it seems to make very little sense in terms of gameplay. I should pull it out again one of these days and give it a whirl again.

And if you ask me it was a great move that Tecmo turned Ninja Gaiden into a platformer rather than continue the Beat Em' Up trend. As fun as Beat Em' Ups they just don't hold up as well if you ask me. Plus the Platformer Gaidens a million times better as well. And the Beat Em Up had some odd control mechanics when it came to items and bashing objects I, it just plain feels weird.

It looks like the new NG is going to be more like the Beat Em Ups if you ask me. It just does not look to be phenominal, it looks too much like a DOA Beat Em' Up. I guess we won't find out till it comes out, when ever the hell that is.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

Thanks, I did not know of Radia Senki. There's also Capt. Tsubasa 2-4, and Tecmo SuperBowl. If anyone knows of any besides those, please mention them.

  5. The arcade ninja gaiden is still my favorite. That might be partly because of my complete rage with being denied a real home port, which in turn caused me to resent the NES substitute. I might have liked it more if it wasn't called Ninja Gaiden. But the original is one of the few beatemups I'm still fond of. Great game.

  6. Couple of questions:

Firstly - anyone ever play Tecmo world Wrestling on NES?

Secondly just where did Tecmo get their insane 3d skills? When DoA arrived, not mention 2 and 3 it amazed graphically. What 3d games did they do before then to enable them to create such graphics?

  7. Nice thread. Id didn't even know there was an arcade version of Tecmo Bowl. The nes one is one of the few sports games I like. I agree that NG 3 just didn't have the same spark that the first two did, but damn did the graphics look nice. One of the few nes games I've seen with more than one layer of parallax and foreground objects. And I think the Super Sword was a nice addition. I got to get around to beating it without dying again.

  8. Ah Mighty Bomb Jack, what a clunky game. Isn't there a like a huge backlash against this game? Star Force is equally weak, but Solomon's Key is kind of cool.

  9. I loved Tecmo World Wrestling. It was, and still is, a fantastic game. Best NES wrestling game by far. The Antonio Inoki wannabe was great. Plus, the cinema scenes for high-impact moves was great, as was the Tom Talker play-by-play commentary box on the bottom of the screen. Here's a link to my complete thoughts on the game - http://gamefaqs.com/console/nes/review/R21094.html

I have played Tecmo World Wrestling. I can't say I remember it very well though.

I should check out Radia Senki now that there's a translated version.
