Thread: Silent Hill Moments

  1. i agreewith despair, the sirens messed with my head. that game really worked on your ears and imagination to mess with you far worse than a normal "scare" type game.

but the scene that got me in sh 1 was when i was in the sewers and reached for the key in the water, classic"dont go in the basement" moment.

the other classic for just messing with you was the video tape in the hospital, the first time i played it my imagination made it about 30 times more creepy than it even was.

I really can't sing the praises of Fatal Frame enough.

There was a part in SH2, when you were underground, the circular hallway I believe, when Pyramid Head is chasing you around, and the monsters are crawling underneath the grates. I was just waiting for one of them to hop right up at me.

Fatal Frame has it all over Silent Hill in terms of atmosphere. You're cheating yourself if you don't play it.

  4. Silent Hill 2 is creepier for me than Fatal Frame so far, but I haven't had time to finish FF yet. I think it's the difference of enviroment for me and background detail. SH2 had some superbly crafted creepy locations, the prison sticks out in my mind but they even made the apartment building feel ominous, while FF is a stock haunted house with bad textures. I'm only at the end of the first night though so I'm sure it gets more immersive later on.

  5. For some reason I can't get into Fatal Frame. I like the concept I just can't get into the game.

    My favorite SH moments:

-Pyramid Head appearing on the roof of the hospital, plenty o shock value there.

-Historical society/prison, it just felt creepy continually going deeper and deeper into ground, not to mention the fact you have to jump in seemingly bottomless pits. The entire thing felt like descent into hell, the room with the grave stones had some rather unnerving music and atmosphere.

  6. Silent Hill 1: The "Other" church.

    Whoa.

Silent Hill 1: The hospital basement...

I can't even think about it now.

Silent Hill 2: The first time you walk in to town.

All I knew was, I'd seen Pyramid Head when someone else was playing, and I knew he was out there somewhere, and all I had was a stick...

Silent Hill 2: You walk in on Pyramid Head assraping one of the mannequins.

I felt somewhat ill, but I knew then and there that I had to buy this game.

    Silent Hill 2: "Daddy, no!"

I felt fucked up for an hour.

I'm really not sure I want to put myself through Silent Hill 3.

  7. When I was playing the 2nd one, and I went to go and look for a key to a room, and when I found that room...

I fell asleep because the game was that fucking boring

    Man, that was cool.

  8. SH1's hospital.
As if the school wasn't bad enough, everything was 10 times worse in the hospital. As soon as I got in that elevator.... The music, the nurses, the freaky noises.... My nerves were shot for a good hour after I turned off my PS.

Considering the first one desensitized me, the 2nd was a walk in the park. It was creepy, but barely terrifying.

Yeah, I just about pissed myself when that happened.

When Lisa Garland's face starts bleeding all over the place.
During that scene possibly the most somber song I'd ever heard was also playing.
    omg TNL epics!

Same here, that right there is pure videogame hell.

Anyway, I really, really want to pick up SH2 now. I liked SH1 a lot, I played through the game with a friend as we were still both scared shitless. The atmosphere of the SH games is just so morbidly interesting.
