Thread: The best Zelda clone ever? - Neutopia

  1. Neutopia's last boss had some rockin' music. I wish I still had that game. There's one more Zelda clone that nobody has mentioned yet. It's called The Quest For Thelda. I think it was for some Tandy computer. I remember seeing the ad for it in an old Rainbow magazine.

  2. Yes, yes, and yes. Neutopia was the shizzy and god, I regret the day I sold it and all my TG-16 games (and system!) for a paltry $90. I was young and stupid, what can I say. Anyway, yeah, Crystalis is another great one. Alundra had a funny translation but overall I found it to be kinda... eh. Alundra 2 was better with the best voice acting in a videogame ever, but with 3D graphics so bad they were good.

I'm playing Legend of Oasis right now and loving it!

    p.s.
    Star Tropics was cool too.

  3. Star Topics did rock, and it's beyond me why the series never went past the NES.

Legend of/Beyond Oasis (whichever the first one was, I haven't played the second) did nothing for me. For some reason, it bored me in minutes.

Because part two was feces. Since Nintendo in the habit of rehashing games for GBA, I'd love a remake of the original. *-neo

I never played Beyond but Legend bored the hell out of me the first time I tried it about six months ago. I got through the first two dungeons and then set it aside with sadness. It was a pretty big dissapointment since I'd been meaning to play it since it came out. A few nights ago I was in the mood for that style of game so I restarted it ('cause my Saturn battery died and my save file was gone). Exact same game but six months pass and now I love it with a passion. Strange how you're just more receptive to certain games at certain times.

I remember they put in a piece of paper with Star Tropics -- a map or something -- and you had to put water on it for it to reveal a code or a location or something. Neat.

Not having that frickin' piece of paper is why I never beat Star Tropics. Damn pre-internet days.

Other than that it was a cool game, albeit not very original.

  7. Don't worry about Legends/Beyond Oasis. They are good, but the GameGear RPG "Defenders of Oasis" was superb. Fans of Phantasy Star would love that game. It truly deserves a GBA conversion.
    No gnus is good gnus.

Korian, part two is a bit tougher, has actual towns, better music, and 8-way walking.

Bomberman Tournment on GBA could be Neutopia 3, except for altering the gameplay for using bombs instead of a sword. *-neo
I've never played Neutopia but I've been meaning to for ages. I *loved Bomberman Tournament on GBA.

  9. Star Tropics is awesome. Easily one of my fave NES games.

  10. I really liked the first star tropics when it came out. I was looking for something new and it came along. I thought it was neat that after you beat the final boss you only have to grab the cube or whatever it was to see the ending whenever you wanted. ST 2 seemd to just take everything that was good about the first and shove it in a dark corner. What the hell were they thinking?

Oh, to stay on topic, I liked Neutopia back in the day but now it is just so generic its not even funny.
