Thread: Are Gamestop's used games priced per region?

  1. Are Gamestop's used games priced per region?

The past 2 weeks, I've been working in the North east region of the US and stopped by a Gamestop in New Jersey. They had a sign on the front window, for prices they pay for your used games. One game that stood out, was Suikoden. The sign said they would pay $25 for your used copy. This struck me as odd, because, I've seen the game selling in Dallas, for around $16. Was this just a misprint (The game really being Suikoden III for PS2) or is Suikoden selling for a higher price in that region of the US?

Anyone from the New York/New Jersey area know how much Suikoden is selling for, on the PSX?

  2. I believe it's the same price everywhere, because Shin JohnPV works at Funco in NJ, and I use him to get used game prices on stuff I'm looking to buy, and 9 times out of 10 he's giving me the right price. (I'm in Florida, by the way).

They probably meant Suikoden 3, because they sell it used for 40, so getting 25 for it isn't too bad.

You mean Suikoden II just jumped to 49.99

It was in the 30s not too long ago..

S1 should be like $28 or so.

  6. The price hasn't jumped from region to region, as those numbers are consistent for the entire EC region. If that were the case, it would create some complications.

It's not quite the same as select fast food chains participating in specific promotions, while others do not.

Suikoden at the time I worked on the Most Wanted Used Games was listed as $16.00. Although there's a possibility within the past few days that it could have jumped in price.

  7. Rather than start a new thread for this, I was wondering what is up with the seemingly random NEW game prices at Gamestop. Every now and then I'll notice a new game going for $5 over the MSRP. Most recent example being Wario Ware priced at $35. I saw that, walked across the street and picked it up for $30 from a different store. What's even funnier is that I've been to another Gamestop and they were selling Wario Ware for the standard $30. What the hell is going on? This is just one of many examples.

  8. The GS near me always sells new things for $5 more than any other store. It's one of the key things that keeps me from going to that store.

It could have been a test store. When I worked at Toys R Us, in the video game deptartment, we were told by corporate to raise some of our games 5 dollars over MSRP, to see how many people still bought them even if the price was raised. It's usually done in an area of high traffic or with alot of other similar stores, and it's a test to see how many people like the store enough to pay the extra 5, I suppose.

And yea, alot of the games marked at 55 at my TRU rotted on the shelf, and people always complained it was 5 dollars over and went across the street. This was all sent to corporate, because if they actually sell quite a bit when it's over MSRP, they'll start setting up more stores to sell higher creating more revenue.

I've personally never seen that happen though, more often than not the price just goes back down.
