Thread: "Iranian Protesters Remain Resolute"

No, see when a few thousand Iraqis protest over American occupation, that is a sample that isn't accurate. When a few thousand Iranians protest their government and ask for American intervention, that is obviously a true representation of the feelings of the vast majority of Iranians.

Ah yeah sure, the domino theory, if Iran falls to comunism the entire middle east will crumble, silly boy.
Hey, forget "the domino theory", I'm simply claiming that communism would've been worse for Iran than the Shah ever was.

  3. Dude there was NO comunism in Iran.
The US used comunism as a boogeyman troughout the cold war regardles if it was warranted or not.
Kinda like they are doing now with WMD and Al Queda.

And saint makes an excellent point.
Oh BTW the protesters are mostly students, a group you and youre ilk disregarded as being always against the government when they protested in the US against the recent war in Iraq.

  4. heh.. his Ilk... what about your Ilk or that other guy...

I love it when people try touse the 1984 scare-tactic. "OH NO! IT'S JUST LIKE 1984!"

Please. It has gotten beyond old already. Both sides constantly try to use it against each other. "The actions of the administration are nothing short of Orwellian!"

Just say, "Hey. I hate Republicans. I hate conservatives. I hate the things they do. I hate the things they stand for."

It would be so much easier for yourself and everyone else.
bastard of the new world order.

Orwell would've become a goddamn Neoconservative anyways. It's absurd seeing his writing used as a cliche by the left.

  8. Your Us vs Them attitude bites. Same with Ali. You both suck.

Aaah, thx Stone.. I always wondered why the Left would harp on the Iran/Shah issue so much; I didn't know a apart of it was due to the prior leader the US knocked off was pro-Soviet (which would answer abit of the 'why' he wasn't 'liked'). So, basically a, "Hahah, your backed leader got knocked off too and sent the country back into a theocracy... Things would've been better off with our backed leader.." point-of-view. Whenever I hear "a democratically elected progressive leader that wasn't to the liking of the US." I immediately wonder exactly what other truths are being left out from what probably is a factual statement. Hitler was a democratically elected leader that is considered progressive by some (I'm sure segments of Arabdom draw inspiration from some of his "policies") and did, in fact, turn out to NOT be to the liking of the US... I mean, ya know, if we wanna look at it objectively thru a moral equivalency lens ... "Progressive" is in the eye of the beholder... I'm sure Hamas considers itself a "progressive" movement.

Yeah.. I think it's just believing the "right" thing to do is the opposite of whatever the "Right" believes. I guess I'm guilty of that, though, defining my moral compass to be opposite that of the Russians, the Chinese, the French, the "Arab street", liberals, communists, "progressives", Almaci, etc... :P It's always good to have plenty of reference points in making a conclusion as to what is right and wrong, though.

  10. To talk about Hitler and democracy in a single sentance is sickening, the guy rose to power thanks to some seriously antidemocratic actions and putting fear in the harts of Germans and death to others.
