Thread: Daredevil DVD

  1. Daredevil DVD

    I can't wait to own the thing, it was a good movie and did the comics justice.

    Here's what it will contain taken from the Comicscontinuum website:

    Daredevil, the 20th Century Fox movie based on the Marvel Comics character, will debut on DVD and VHS on July 29.

    The two-disc DVD, which will cost $29.98, is presented in Widescreen (Aspect Ratio 2:35:1) and Fullscreen with English 5.1 DTS, English 5.1 Dolby Digital, French Dolby Surround and Spanish Dolby Surround sound.

    Additional DVD special features include:

    * Production commentary by Mark Steven Johnson and Gary Foster.

    * Two new documentaries, "Beyond Hell's Kitchen: Making Daredevil" with an optional enhanced viewing mode and "The Men Without Fear: The Art of Daredevil."

    * Six multi-angle scene studies.

    * Enhanced viewing mode.

    * HBO First Look Special.

    * "Shadow World" - an in depth look at how Daredevil views the world.

    * Modeling sheet - bios on Daredevil villains and heroes.

    * Kingpin featurette.

    * Three music videos - "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence, "Won't Back Down" by Fuel and "For You" by The Calling.

    * Jennifer Garner's screen test.

    * Still gallery.

    * Original theatrical trailers.

    * Full-length screenplay.
    Here's the case. It looks ok but I wish they just had a solo shot of DD in that reddish cloud backround the movie poster had.

  2. I not sure if I like this cover. And I wonder what happened to alternative, DC cut of the film, the director kept taling about at the time of the film's theatrical release. This set doesnt seem to have any deleted scenes either, but from what I remember some of the stuff cut wasnt all that worthy(like Coolio segment in court, and such).

  3. Oddly enough IGN had a review of the DVD way in advance.

    Here's their review http://dvd.ign.com/articles/394/394096p1.html

    The reviewer said this:
    You know, there are rumors of an extended Director's Cut of Daredevil for release someday, but I honestly don't know what they can add in terms of extras.
    It seems that they packed quite alot into it but I don't know why the fuck they didn't add in that extra trial on the fucking DVD, is the perfect chance! I hate having to buy later special editions and if they do that like they did X-Men 1.5, I will be pretty miffed since they could just do it in one DVD edition.

    He mentions this though and it kind of puts me at ease
    The documentary then goes full-speed through the production of the movie with a lot of rare footage including video of some scenes that were cut from the final release. One of these is a humorous moment in a courtroom with Foggy and Matt, and another is a scene where Kingpin kills two of his guards. There is also extensive footage of the wirework in the movie and video of some scenes that were done with wires, but then later replaced with a CGI stuntman. It's a great documentary, and even includes its own "Enhanced Viewing Mode" that includes additional behind the scenes footage for six different subjects. If you don't want to search the main documentary for these clips, they are available in a separate menu to watch on their own.
    But then again
    At 103 minutes, the movie moves along well with pacing more similar to that of the quick X-Men than the slower Spider-Man, although the film was apparently chopped up three times to avoid an R rating. It'd be interesting to see an extended cut sometime in the future due to any subplots that may have been edited out of the final movie
    The pics they have up show good quality, they even show the Stan Lee cameo but I barely remembered it. He says its a great DVD though so I dunno I'll see if I decide if no revisions will be made.

  4. That cover looks embarassingly stupid

  5. Heh tell me about it. It kind of looks like DD is holding Elektra's sai in it. I'm hoping this is just placeholder or something since that stupid looking moon and rain is there but if it isn't then that shit blows.
