Thread: Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness

  1. Damn, it got a 6.5 from GameSpot I was hoping they would change my mind, but I had absolutely no faith in Core, they're such an untalented, yet unbelievably cocky developer. I still may check it out when it can be found for $20 or so, or maybe a rent, but that's it =/
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  2. Lara Croft's face scares me. Is she a muppet or something?

  4. Damn! The controls are brutal. They never were great but they used to easily get the job done. Forcing us to use the analog sucks. It feels like I'm controlling a cruise liner now. Damn, I'll play a little longer but if it doesn't pick up, this bitch is going back.

  5. Hmm...and she should have a Devil Trigger, where she turns into this uber-succubus and...okay, I'll stop.
Hehehe. Eidos needs people like YOU !

  6. I really wanted this game to be good. I really did. I really really did.
So I thought to myself "well, let's go down to the EB and pick it up and test drive it out."
    The opening cinema........okay.....jumping training......okay........

then came the roof jumping. No problem! forward + jump......and CRASH, right into a glitch. hooray! I sealed the game back up, it went back to EB today. I don't care what I'm missing, I encountered a stupid glitch within 3 minutes of playtime.

  7. I bought AOD on Friday and gave the game a chance this weekend. The begining was a glitchy mess and it never really got any better. It's a real shame becouse it has the makings of a really good game. It's too bad they rushed it out full of bugs. Oh well I took it back this afternoon and used the money to buy a GBA player.

  8. I feel really bad for all those Tomb Raider fans. They show up, replete with high hopes. I could tell them how horrible the game is, but then I'd crush their spirits.

What's an EB clerk to do?

  9. They had to redesign this sequel from the ground up. Have the graphics look more realistic, instead of poor kids' versions of last-gen Barbie dolls. How about using Angelina Jolie's likeness for a change?? That would at least bring a new freshness to the series.

I like the fact they're making the game more stealth, though, so at least that's cool. But they should've expanded on the genre instead of making a Splinter Cell/MGS knock off.

BTW, one thing I noticed from the TV commercial. At one point she jumps on a guy and punches his face. Now, I know this game isn't trying to be super-realistic or anything but even a non-violent pacifist like myself knows that you don't punch a guy on his face while his head is lying flat on the ground, otherwise you'll end up breaking every bone in your hand. See, Lara, girlfriend - what you do is grab him by the neck and lift his head above the ground...THEN punch him and knock his lights out. Its not that difficult - and less painful.
