Thread: Alienware Systems

  1. you can by cases that look just like alienware. i got their old one with the acrylic window. anyone will tell you to build your own since its like half as much but since you want to know if a p4 or athlon is better ill offer some insight. IF he plans on doing multiple things at once a hyper threaded p4 (which i believe stared at the 3.0ghz range) will destroy an athlon at multitasking. if however he wont be doing a lot of programs at once the athlon is a cheaper alternative.

  2. well, it'll be for games and video-editing mainly, but both won't be done at the same time (obviously). ^^

I like building PCs, but I won't get paid for doing that, and he doesn't want to bother putting anything together. Otherwise I'm sure it would be much cheaper no matter what ^^

Personally, I'd take the Athlon for video games.

That's exactly what I did. I have an Aurora.

  5. Alienware is way to expansive, and as in many cases of buying Brand name products, you are paying for said Brand name. Sure they good, but you can get simular stuff for less money if you shop around, and even better if you do it yourself, but in Hero's case its not an option.

  6. yes but despair.....we say that time and time again and EVERYONE here always buys pre-made. eh, whatever.

  7. I hate trying to remember all the different hard drive brands.

I'm looking between Western Digital, Seagate, and Maxtor right now. I haven't dealt with the former two, but have had Maxtor HDDs before, and like them. Western Digital is cheaper though...are they more reliable?

Haven't had a problem with my WD.

  9. Seagate>WD>Maxtor

That's what I hear anyway. I have a 120 GB WD myself, and I haven't had any problems with it.

  10. cool. That saves 40 bucks. ^^
