i read that those pictures are just a menu of some sort.

hopefully we get some really solid info on the game this year.

Not all the screens are menus, here's what's apparently going on:

For those who didn't already know, you can see Yak going back and forth between 'URspace' (where the gameplay is refined) and Unityspace (where it is merged with the VLM3 graphics and other magic) in these pictures [I think I got that right]. The blue screen appears to be some sort of settings menu.

The grid is URspace.

Unityspace is the parts with the vectors and flashy crap flying all over the place.

The blue screen is the projector trying to sync to the video. We have one at work, it does this when you turn it on or switch video modes.

hey guys, one of the programmers told me to expect some solid news soon after July 4th. maybe even on that date.

he also said that it's not coming along too well.

By "one of the programmers" I'm sure you mean "the only programmer".

Minter seems pretty excited with the progress so far (as seen on his forums), so I'm not too worried. I wouldn't expect this game to come out too soon, though - remember Tempest 3000 took like 3 years to make.
