because the chicks are hot.
Anyone want to explain why this film is so highly acclaimed?
Sure, I really need to see this movie twice [like all others] to really get the full effect / form a real opinion, but so far... I'm not getting much from this.
because the chicks are hot.
I really liked the movie for it's camera work, music, acting, direction, and plot. A cop out answer? Yes. I liked the movie a lot. But I could see how it could disturb some people to the point of them not liking it. I've been meaning to pick it up on DVD.
Its a cool and interesting plot. The violence is quite disturbing, sure, but unlike other films that are like this, its pretty clear what the director's intentions were and what he was trying to convey by the end of the film. The pacing is really the only thing that hurts the movie as a whole. That and some "talking head syndrome" that they should've done without or edited in a more interesting way. I haven't seen A Clockwork Orange in a long time, so that's pretty much the problems I remember having. Maybe there are more, but I'd have to watch it again to refresh my memory.

This is one of those movies I thought was ultra-cool when I was in high school, just starting to appreciate so-called "film". Now I can barely watch it.
As Mr-K said, the camera work is inventive and the costuming quite memorable. But otherwise the movie is just too alien and coarse for me to enjoy.

Well, if I remember correctly Anthony Burgess hates the movie.
Personally, I enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty interesting. Dunno why, though.
I didn't like it very much at all. Pity too, because after I read a brief synopsis of the plot in my psychology book in high school I was so freaking pumped to see it. They totally blew the chance to make a freaking amazing movie...
I don't like it, not at all. I didn't like the characters, I hated the look of everything, I didn't care much for how they did the soundtrack, and I didn't really like how they handled the story. About the only thing I enjoyed was the concept of having milk bars.
But it's a movie I really never want to see again, and not just because it looks so hideous. Honestly, someone needs to shoot whoever came up with that look for clothing and interior design.
It's all about Malcolm McDowell killing someone with a gigantic stone penis, and uttering the famous "ultraviolence" line.
Other than that, I definitely don't consider it one of Kubrick's better films. But at least it was better than Eyes Wide Shut.
omg TNL epics!
