I was told 15 was the highest it went, but I've never broken 10.

WTF, you are insane. So how do I do it? I mean I can perfect enemy battles and still only get like 1-2 grade points for the battle...wtf...that's the only thing I really don't get about the the game...what's the trick to it?
"50,000! You scored 50,000 points on Double Dragon?"

  4. I've gotten a 10.00 (and it was a boss battle that I finished with barely a scratch and at a little over a minute) so I thought that that was the grade cap.

I beleive 10.00 is the cap for most boss battles.

  6. Whoo, I just found that black skeleton monster for the third time (if you're looking, he's in the forest with the first human ranch you encounter). Took me twenty minutes and all of my gels, life bottles, energy tablets, and elixirs to match him. Hope the last boss isn't tough...

  7. 20+ Grade? That's pretty impressive, but like the others, I heard it couldn't surpass 15. I got 10.00 on just about every boss battle.

Hmm, it seems that so far, Star Ocean is getting semi-average reviews. I got my copy of September GMR in the mail, and they only gave it a 7, which is a shame, because they we're really looking forward to it. Then again, I shouldn't concern too much about reviews since they only gave ToS an 8, and not an Essential Selection award. Pity, because I find it the best game on the Cube, easily.

  8. I THINK Grade is reflected by you're level compared to the bosses level. I'm on hard mode so the bosses have a higher level i was like... lvl 32 against Regal. I didn't even perfect him. My jaw dropped when I saw that (I think the 15 cap is for normal, without the grade bonus via beating the game).

I really do hope someone figures out the grade scale because I have no idea how it works.

Eh I've played Star Ocean, the battle system is smooth, the Battle Data Collection adds a whole new set of goals and difficulty to the game. I just don't know about the plot.

  9. My best is a 12.8 on normal, I think... Though it may be 8.12. And I'll readily admit that I get my ass kicked all over the place on hard. Earning that Berserker title was a bitch for me.

Rob: Thank you for contacting Namco's Live Support. How may I help you?
Pete: Hi! I bought Tales of Symphonia shortly after release. On 3 separate instances last week, the game blacked out in the midst of play and displayed a message telling me to turn off the gamecube and consult my GCN owner's manual. After turning the power off and then on again, the gamecube had difficulty recognizing the Tales disc from the main browser screen. I have not had this problem to date with any other gamecube game. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can avoid this problem in the future?
Pete: I suspect that the problem might be related to the length of time I have been playing the game.
Rob: Actually, it sounds like a driver error.
Pete: I have read many posts from other gamers on message boards detailing the same problem.
Rob: This can affect some games but not others.
Pete: What do you mean by "driver error."
Rob: Because Tales is a new game it can be affected by older GameCubes. Older GameCube can show errors after a while.
Rob: I recommend exchanging the game at your local retailer. If the error persists, you should contact Nintendo.
Pete: Is this a software or hardware problem?
    Rob: Hardware.
Pete: Is this related to the wear & tear on the gamecube, or is there a newer driver operating on the newer gamecubes?
    Rob: Wear and tear.
