Thread: The new guitar (image intensive)

  1. I bought a pretty cheap guitar + amp roughly two years ago. Didn't go very far, and overall I just wasn't very into it. There's a large chance that I'll give it another shot, though.

  2. Nice guitar, 88. I guess one pickup is all one really needs. Are you a lead or a rhythm?

I used to play back in high school. My black Washburn MG-360 (not exactly sure of the model #) hasn't been touched in years. Man, what memories. Especially the nightmare of tuning the thing due to a certain suspension created by a certain Mr. Floyd Rose. Sounded damn good when it was in tune, though. I had this little DOD practice amp that I had to scrap 'cause my cat peed on it.

I quit playing when I was actually starting to get pretty decent at it. Quite a shame.

  3. This ones my favorite, I use it mainly for jazz. My other guitar is a deep red mexican fender strat that I haven't customized to much other than to put a white moto pickguard on it and a duncan hotrails pickup on the bridge (nice pickup for 80 bucks.) I also have a 60s korean acoustic guitar that my mom passed down to me and I learned to play on. I play them through either a fender deville (all tube, 2 12s) or an early 90s polytone minibrute (1 12, clean, and loud as fuck given it's small size.

    Nice choice of pickup 88.

I want to replace all 3 stock pickups on my strat with Hotrails, that thing would sound crazy.

I've seen guitars like that actually... no crazier than an axe with three 'buckers. Whats awesome is when these things have a bunch of splitters so you can mess with any possible combination of pickups.

  6. thats one sweet guitar. My current gear is fairly shoddy, but I'm saving for some top quality shit.

my bass is an OLP musicman stingray, which is basically a middle of the range cheap copy of a real Musicman stingray. My amp is a piece of crap that I got for around $45 us.

the gear I'm saving up for at the moment is a wal bass of some sort ( www.walbasses.com ) and a mesa boogie Venture 1x15 combo.

anyway, heres my current bass and amp:

Blame my camera... its red. And a nice shade of red if I do say so myself.

Well... I'll sell you one of those guitars you have in your sig.

I don't know if you'd consider the price reasonable though...

In all seriousness, I am a fan of Fenders. The Blink 182 guitar isn't bad for the price... you can get the squire model for about $150 and its actually a pretty good little guitar. I have one, and I like it.

For amps, Danelectro makes a pretty nice practice amp for about $100 called the "Dirty Thirty". I have one in my bathroom... it sounds great for the price, about $80.

I also used a 80 watt Fender Princeton Chorus (not 100% sure on the name) for about ten years, and it still sounds great. Just today I rewired it to output to a cabinet. Its loud as fuck, and has an amazing tone (provided you like the Fender sound). You can probably pick up a used one for $100-200.

    Hope that helps.

P.S. Stay away from Gibsons... they are the devil, no matter what people tell you.

P.P.S. If you decide to get a Gibson, buy my old one. I think its got about 10 hours of play on it... max.

P.P.P.S. Don't buy a "guitar amp pack" they always suck the ass.

  9. I thought you were the bassist?

Anyway you know I ain't knocking it, thats pretty fucking great getting it custom. I don't have a friend in real life who ever even thought of getting one made that for themselves.

    Who me?

Nah... I'm a damn fine bassist though, I just played bass in too many bands, for too many years. Had to switch it up for a bit.
