MS already tried that. I believe $25 billion was the amount Nintendo was offered.Originally posted by Saint of Killers
It would make alot more sense for Microsoft to buy Nintendo instead of partnering with them.
2 systems are less of a pain in my nuts than 3. Fucking 3 system standard limiting shelf space and making me have to drive around to 5 fucking stores every time I want a new GBA game because NO ONE will stock the games I want is really starting to get old. So go for it, Nintendo. For the GBA's sake.
But I don't understand what MS has to offer Nintendo, really. It sounds like they want Nintendo to pay them to not make a next gen system.

I believe those numbers are for each companies' fiscal year. Meaning the PS2/GC numbers are projected shipped (not sold to consumers) for March 2003 and XBox are for June 2003.Originally posted by Mr_Furious
Not true if the newest EGM data is accurate. Here's where the consoles stood as of 3/31/03 (so EGM says):
* Global Sales *
1. PS2 = 51+ Million units
2. Xbox = 14+ Million units
3. GC = 9+ Million units
I confess these numbers are based off memory and might be slightly off but I do remember pretty clearly that the GC wasn't in the #2 slot.
I have an extremely hard time believing Microsoft is over 10 million, but hey, if EGM said it! I know you don't think it's a credible site either, but does anybody have the full skinny on these numbers?Originally posted by Mr_Furious

I don't care who's #2, honestly, but it's nice to have the official information.
It would cost Microsoft more then the Xbox and the R & D on the Xbox 2 to buy Nintendo. It's not going to happen, so kbuchanan is right.Originally posted by kbuchanan
Good luck with that.

And to think that this month's EGM would have the balls to say there are 13 million Xbox's and only 9.4 million for the Gamecube. I could'nt beleive the Xbox could sell that many units in the US and Europe, because MS has only sold about 56,000 units in Japan this year. www.the-magicbox.com![]()
call me crazy, but i don't want to see this partnership form. i'm afriad if ms joined with nintendo japan would give a big fuck you to the game console because of ms. if that happens, nintendo would go down real fast.
the japanese HATE ms and they could be like a virus if they hooked up with nintendo. and aside from that, nintendo is too greedy. they wouldn't want to share their profits with anyone. but then again, they have a new president. he might want to do whatever it takes to get nintendo back on top again. joining with someone like ms might be the only way to do it.
If MS could convince Nintendo to publish games for the unit, without paying any royalties, Nintendo would benefit big time. They would'nt have to take the risks involved with manufacturing a console. I can't see Nintendo doing this, because of pride, but it could be a very lucrative deal for them.
