Best Godzilla Movie

Mine, hands down, is the hokey and often awful King Kong vs Godzilla. I've probably watched it over twenty times.

Anyone that says theirs is the Matthew Broderick abomination shall be publicly flogged and humiliated.

I've not seen Godzilla GMK, but I heard that is the consensus best Godzilla film ever. I also haven't seen Godzilla vs Megaguirus, or Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 3 yet.

Funny, but as much as I love Godzilla, I've never really given this question much thought. I like just about every Godzilla movie, with the exception of the entire Heisei series.

If I had to choose one as best, I would say the original 1954 Godzilla is the best. It really drives home the message behind the monster like no other monster movie.

That withstanding, some of my faves include Godzilla vs. Hedorah (my personal fave), Godzilla vs. Mothra (the original, where he's beaten by Mothra's larvae), King Kong vs. Godzilla and indeed, Godzilla Mothra King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters Attack.

I think everyone needs to see the original Godzilla and GMK to know the true power and appeal of Godzilla.

I've seen a couple of the '90s Godzilla movies on cable the last couple of months. They aren't that bad but don't hold a candle to the flicks from the '60s.

I must be in the minority here, but I liked the Matt Broderick Godzilla by the Independence Day guys, even have the promo pack you get when you see it opening day, with a little Godzilla pic inside.

My eyes got all clouded when i saw godzilla die in such a horrible way at least the torch was passed to junior.But the worst one ever was revenge of godzilla with godzilla talking and godzillas ugly little kid talking to the boy in the movie.It was just sad real sad.

While I dont think US Godzilla was all that bad, its not a classic either. Some of the fx were pretty cool though, and it had Jean Reno, one of its very few saving graces

As for Japanese Godzillas, I havent seen all of them but ones I remember like Godzilla Vs Biolante or Godzilla 1984 were pretty cool.

Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is really good, so is GMK, but I would have to say 1985 is still my favorite, just because it was the first one I saw, and when you're 6, it's the coolest thing you've ever seen.
