So what do you do with the case-less games ?? Sell them cd-only for a reduced price ??

I hate gutted games. The cases are usually scratched up, sometimes even cracked, and like someone else said, I just don't like having other people handle my games. Call me selfish, but the bastards don't care about it because it's not theirs.

A few weeks ago I purchased Ecks vs. Sever for the GBA. I cautiously asked if it was reshrinkwrapped, and the clerk said it wasn't, which was reassuring.

However, when I look at the box in the car on the way home, I find that it is all bent up on all sides. so come a week or so later, I returned the blasted thing, despite the strange looks when I said I wanted to return it because the box is in bad condition.

Searching for the old man with the key for 20 minutes at Wal-Mart so I can get a game doesn't sound too bad anymore.

  3. they sell CD only games for the same price, as far as I know.

this doesnt happen from a game being reshrink wrapped 99% of the time they get shopped to us that way i cant tell you how many games get shipped to us cracked broken or bent up specially GBA games for some reason almost all the time at least 1 game will be dinged to hell the box

thats the store managers call when we do gut checks the games with out cases are given to him and he decides what to do with them

so far hes sold a couple of them and hes always sold them at 50% off

John, I am aware that it wasn't from reshrinking. I was just commenting on how bad EB treats their merchandise.

  7. I can understand some peoples feelings but look at it from the stores perspective why should they eat 5 bucks on a game cause theyre trying to prevent theft from the same consumers (not same as in same people)
Why should the consumers have to buy open games because the store is trying to prevent theft? The least they could do is inform people that the game is reshrinkwrapped before selling it. It is rather annoying to go through the hassle of paying for a game only to have them hand you something that was opened. I know why it is done, but that doesn't mean I'm going to accept it. I do not steal games, and as such I should not be punished for it.

It's sold in a jewel case with this crappy little card in the insert with the name of the game scribbled on it in marker, and the discount all the depends on the manager.

But good luck getting that, heh.

  9. What about those big plastic cases and electronic security systems that TRU uses? They seem to get along fine without gutting games. Ironic, considering they don't specialize in games, that they manage to prevent theft without damaging the product.

Anyway, I only go to game specialty stores if I can't find the game at TRU or Wal-Mart. I really don't see the point of paying $5 on average for a game anyway.

  10. Hey my nearby eb rules isn't all that bad. If I receive a gutted game and ask them for a factory one they'd give it to me without a hassle. Also, whenever I buy from eb I always get a game in superb condition, gba boxes are never crushed like I've seen at many other stores.
    It's a mirror image!
