In that case, I'm suggesting Jagged Alliance 2.X-Com (Hey, it's war with the Aliens)
Great, great game.
Would Dragon Force count as a turn-based war strategy game? It's got multiple armies of foes going at it, and turn-based stuff, but I just want to double-check after the Herzog Zwei snafu.

Iron Storm on Sega Saturn is quite good.
I was going to suggest that one as well. It's a great game and really, one of the toughest of the games in that Genera.

However, all you really need is Advance Wars; why even bother with anything else when you have the best?
Advance Wars is an excellent game, but I prefer the surround tactics of Military Madness. I found Advance Wars, to be a dummied down version of Military Madness.
That makes you, me and Xenogigas around here that recognize the greatness.Originally posted by epmode
yes. hyperbole aside, x-com is possibly my favorite game of all time. at least make sure you try it..
Somehow I thought this moment would be more thrilling.
I think I'll have to restart X-Com and get the good squad going again.
Thanks everyone. I do own X-Com and Dragon Force but I haven't played them extensively yet.
I didn't ask about RTS games because I have played most of the major ones.
I still haven't played the Jagged Alliance games so I should check out those.
Add me to that list. The game is pretty much flawless. Dreamland Chronicles: Freedom Ridge looks incredible, too. That makes you, me and Xenogigas around here that recognize the greatness.

AW and AW 2.
X-Com (Hey, it's war with the Aliens)
I've seen the PC versions of the game for under $10. I'm seriously thinking about getting the PC version, as I hear the PSX one is rather rare.
X-Com on psone is "rare"? I have a few sitting in a box in the basement.
And X-Com and FFT (if that 'counts') are easily my two faves from the genre.
Yeah, if you see a PSX version for less than 40 bones, buy it.
It goes for like 60+ on Ebay.
I've got one, and while the load times are horrible, it's a fairly good version. I've actually played it more than that PC version.
Can't reccomend X-Com enough.
Hmm...maybe the X-Com PS market hit rock bottom. I only see 40 bucks tops on ebay.
I recognize X-Com's greatness.
I'm still looking for that compilation of X-Com, Terror from the Deep, and Apocalypse (that was the third one, right?) that released a little while back, the Windows-compatible one.
Advance Wars and its sequel are great, but neither is as deep strategically as Military Madness or those old SSI computer sims. AW and AW2 are just deep enough to keep things interesting, but the focus is more on fun, addictive play.
Hey MVS: could you resize your avatar to 160 w x 100 h when you get a chance? Thanks.
