Hmm, I hope it will be good.
Apparently this was announced back in April, but I didn't hear about it until just now and I'll bet you haven't either.
From Movie Poopshoot:For the longest time I've wanted to see this made... but I'm sure they won't go the route I was hoping for. I want to see an animated version where the animators are instructed to ape Joe Mad's style as closely as possible, and with the color also in the style of the comic - in effect, the comic in motion. As I said, I doubt it'll be anything like that, but a live action version could be great too, as long as they don't screw it up.IT'LL TAKE LESS TIME TO PRODUCE THE FILM THAN IT DID AN ISSUE OF THE COMIC BOOK
Twentieth Century Fox has optioned feature rights to the fantasy comicbook series "Battle Chasers," with Gil Netter attached to produce. Stuart Hazeldine is negotiating to adapt the screenplay.
Created by Joe Madureira and published by DC Comics, "Battle Chasers" is set on a deadly alien world where humans battle for wealth and four very different superpowered warriors are forced to form an alliance to save their land from a corrupt king.
Fox production president Hutch Parker will supervise development with VP Alex Young. Ken Levin and Jason Netter are executive producers.
Gil Netter, whose "Phone Booth" will be released this Friday, also produced upcoming pic "The Boss' Daughter" (aka "The Guest") for Dimension Films and "Dude, Where's My Car?" for Fox. He is currently producing the sequel to the latter film.
Hazeldine, who's repped by WMA and Immortal Entertainment, wrote "Riverworld," which was produced by Alex Proyas for Alliance Atlantis and premiered on the Sci Fi Channel on March 22.
He also penned "The Tenth Victim," which will be produced through Myriad Pictures with Pressman Films. Dominic Sena is attached to direct, and the script is currently out to actors, with hopes of starting production later this year in Berlin. (As reported by VARIETY)
Hmm, I hope it will be good.
Perrin's idea is the optimal route. I have the feeling that they'd go the Willow/LoTR route, with a gritty medieval setting, which isn't what the comics are about at all.
Plus, the characters are such caricatures, that live actors wouldn't do them justice...I mean, who could play Red Monica, really? Even the old man is unlike any old men they could cast.
This is one of the few comics I collected, mostly for the art (although the story was entertaining enough), so I'm pretty leery of this venture.
awwww, live action? I was excited when I read the thread title. now I'm expecting Dungeons & Dragons 2.
a deadly "alien world" ?
<pictures the little girl with the super powered gloves ripping off a sleek, black acid spitting aliens' head off before saying "Stay away from here you BITCH" >
uhhhh ...no...
I don't know who the hell is going to play Red Monika, but it better be some top heavy chick with a bad attitude.
"Your soul better belong to Jesus, mmm-mmmmm..... cause your ass belongs to me!"
Yeah the art in the book was fantastic. Unfortunately Joe's not going to finish it for a while, which is fucking lame if there's a movie based on the material which is on hiatus.
As for real life actors I think they can do it.
*Warning* this post is image intensive.
I personally think Tom Cruise is perfect for Garrison especially with the long hair, he also looks like him in Minority Report with the shorter hair.

He played a similar role in Legend so its not too far off and Tom is the perfect build, he's kind of short though.
Gully could be played by the girl Wizard magazine picked from Seventh Heaven. Looks like she's outgrown the part though
Red Monica can be played by Angelica Bridges.
I know the boobs are a big part of her(omg understatement) but you'd need one of those models with the humongous vainy gross breasts. Besides they could always use those bustier(Sp?) things. If Pamela Anderson dyed her hair red or something she would be a good match but she's showing her age.
Knolan is tough but you can get almost any old guy for it.
I think Calibretto would have to be a mix of CG and animatronics.
Sorry for some of the shitty pic quality, smaller better quality pics are hard to find.
True but it makes the prospects of a bad wig low. Angelica seems to have all the features as well. The gal that does Monica doesn't have to be red-headed naturally, either.
Yeah but I think he'd be the perfect guy. He has done Legend and all but he probably wants to rest after The Last Samurai. I'm really iffy on that movie it doesn't look that good from what I see.Originally posted by FuryFox
I think casting Tom Cruise for the Battle Chasers movie is just a bit optimistic.
Wizard actually picked someone different his name was Ken Wahl. He would fit the bill as well but since relatively obscure.
