Thread: Movies that get a bad rap but don't deserve it

  1. Freddy Got Fingered IS A PEICE OF SHIT, but I think that was the whole point. The movie is such trash, it's not even a movie, more like a bunch of gags strung together. It was funny though, but I think it's only funny because my memory is so hazy, sometimes my friends and I will blurt out random lines from the movie and we'll laugh at how bad the movie was. I haven't seen it since it came out in theatres, but I will watch it again some day.

My bid for a movie that got a bad rap was A.I., though the middle seemed to keep droning on, I thought the ending was pretty sad and conveyed the movie's theme pretty well.
The whole seemed to keep droning on, and the ending was pure garbage.

As for the Transporter, this sucked balls, plain and simple.

My vote for movie that got a bad wrap but didn't deserve it:

    Death to Smootchy

It was pretty much bashed by every critic, and Ebert gave it the worst movie of the year award, but I thought it was fucking hilarious.

  2. I agree on Vanillia Sky and A.I., I thought they were great films.

  3. Masters of the Universe
Its a good 'ol fashioned sci-fi adventure, and it got crapped on for that. The pacing was great, Skelator was cool, and the story was hokey, sci-fi goodness.

    Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
It was FUN to watch. That is why we like Star Wars, right? Too many were expecting this one to be a Best Picture nominee..

    Brain Donors
Still hasn't gotten a DVD release This is a modern-day Marx Brothers film. That's a good thing.

I'll agree with Death To Smoochy, it's one of the few movies to come out recently I was laughing myself silly about. And besides, it's Edward Norton. He doesn't do bad movies. Especially when Danny DeVito and Robin Williams are also involved.

It's infinitely stupid and ridiculous, but damn, I love it.
That movie owns. Bruce Willis is on my top 10 actors list, very near the top.

  6. I'm forever arguing in favor of Alien^3. I liked the hell out of that movie, detractors be damned. The bit where Morse yells "Fuck!" after Superintendent Andrews is dragged into the ceiling is one of my favorite parts of the series.

Also, I'd like to give a shoutout to Disney's Great Mouse Detective, just because it's usually forgotten when people bring up Disney flicks. Basil rocks.

My favorite animated Disney film. They were going to bring Basil back for another detective movie but got scrapped a few months ago.

    Agree with A.I.

As for Woody Allen films...Manhattan Murder Mystery and Curse of the Jade Scorpion.

Vanilla Sky is one of the better movies I have ever seen. I can't for the life of me figure out why people don't like it.

Hell yes! My favorite Disney movie growing up as a kid (Until Aladdin) for reals!

Street Fighter. It's the greatest accidental comedy of our generation. Pure genius. I nearly piss myself every scene.
    Play Guitar Hero //

How about that Matrix Reloaded ending eh? EH?!

Of course, it was very weird to see robots looking alot like aliens but I thought the 'final' ending gave more closure to the film.

Even if it ended with David stuck under the ice in the ocean I wouldn't have thought any less of it even if it would have been a sadder route.
