Thread: Movies that get a bad rap but don't deserve it

  1. Body Slam, it's comedic gold from start to finish, and it has Ric Flair in it.

Slackers. This movie was in theaters for all of a week, got slammed by critics and probably managed to lose a fair amount of money. I love this movie. This is Jason Schwatzman's best performance, he does a great job as cool Ethan. There are just so many funny parts, I see something new all the time, and i've watched this movie a ton. Once i make people watch it, they all agree that it's great. I think it's going to be similiar to Mallrats, no one saw it in theaters but it's currently in every college student's DVD collection.
This movie is great. I wouldn't call it Jason Schwartzman's best performance though...maybe if Rushmore didn't exist.

The older brother from Pete and Pete is great in this.

  3. I totally agree with death to smoochie. I loved that movie. I steered clear of Slackers because it looked like another lame frat house comedy like Sorority boys or Van Wilder. I'll look into it though.

  4. A.I also gets my vote

    Aliens 3

And I absolutely fucking love Hackers...

  5. HACK THE PLANET!

I agree, Great Mouse Detective is a great Disney movie. Though, forgotten does not necessarily equal getting a "bad wrap."
    Name: Rock
    Town: Arcadia

  8. Death to Smoochy was brilliant, Edward Norton rules.

Freddy got fingered was awful, it was like watching more of a train wreck then a movie. Tom Green can be really, really funny, but this was just terrible.

"Okay, there is a spot in the movie where your driving, Why not go jerk off a horse?"
“The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, you know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.” -George Carlin

  9. A.I. gets my vote as well as Equilibrium.
I guess you've learned the benifit to waiting.
I agree, they should give people like you something. Perhaps a kick in the balls would do nicely and make you slightly less retarded.

  10. I just saw Transporter again, and it completely deserves the flak it gets. A few decent action scenes cannot possibly compensate for how terrible the story, characters, and soundtrack were.

I'd add Sleepy Hollow, it was generally unappreciated but fairly good IMO.
