Well, just an improvement from F-Zero X would be enough to sell me on the game. I'm still floored by F-Zero X, and I can't imagine how far my jaw will drop when I play this game. Thanks for the impressions, Lucas.

ok, my ex girlfriend gave me a call telling me that she located 2 AX machines, so i went to check them out as soon as possible.

anyways, after playing the game, 2 things are jokiingly clear.
1. The sensation of speed seems a bit better on GX.
2. AV put the 6 best levels that they designed into AX.

the levels in AX are so fuckin awesome it hurts.

anyways, i took my memory card, and managed to get some new characters, and unlocked whatever AX levels i got first place in (which was only one). if the place wasn't an hour away from me, i'd go daily until i got every single last AX level unlocked.

Is the only way to unlock the AX levels in GX to get first place in the arcade and save it to you GC memory card? If so, I think that kind of sucks. A lot of people don't have access to a decent arcade.

i'm not sure if you're aware, but the official american release of AX will not include memory card support. it's very likely that the extra tracks will be unlockable in GX without ever going to an arcade.

as for the japanese GX, i doubt that sega/nintendo would force you to play AX to unlock everything, as arcade machines have a habit of disappearing suddenly.. my guess is that they will eventually release codes to access the extra content.

Actually, you can unlock the AX characters and courses apparently if you beat all the missions on the harder difficulties... much easier to do it with AX :/

GX is amazing, I got it yesterday and played it for a long time. I love this game, and I've never been a big fan of racing games in general. The graphics are the best I've seen on the gamecube, and the framerate is always at a steady and high rate. The cg movies are very cool looking, and the soundtrack to this game is absolutely fantastic. I love how the unlocking system works and I'm really enjoying most of the tracks.

The only problem I have with this game are the tubes, I can stand the inward tubes, but the outward ones just bother me. Aside from that, I'm pleased by everything in this game.

to unlock the AX cup without playing AX, you have to beat all 4 cups on master difficulty, which is going to be about as much fun as hitting yourself in the forehead with the pointy part of a hammer.

to be able to buy AX parts for your ship, you have to beat all the missions on hard mode.
