Listen to the JSRF soundtrack and see if you still think that. Naganuma doesn't really have a "style", he goes through them like haircuts. Hopefully an importer will settle this, though.

  2. Those of you who are importing this game via the freeloader might want to have a look at this article.

Have a Freeloader? Looking to import F-Zero for the GameCube? You might want to reconsider.

Online game import giant National Console Support is reporting that the Japanese version of F-Zero GX, when played on a US or European GameCube by way of Datel's Freeloader, doesn't display the game the way it was originally intended.

Apparently, text overlays such as the time, lap counter, and other common HUD displays seen on-screen during a race disappear, leaving only the actual race going on behind them. Additionally, the opening main menu completely vanishes, leaving only the empty background. All game modes can be selected, but you would need to blindly make your way around, as you wouldn't be able to see what you're trying to select.

It should be stressed that these complications found with using the Freeloader are only cosmetic, meaning the actual game is still 100% playable. You'll just be missing all the information you need to help you out to do it.

This only applies to importers intending on using the Freeloader disc. Gamers with modded consoles will not have this problem at all. Those concerned about this problem would do well to contact their importer and perhaps hold off on the import, waiting instead for the domestic release on August 25.

I thought you were gay.... i guess not.

  4. Oh man this game is going to rule. I just wish it was coming out sooner than late freaking August.

  7. ok, just got it. i'll post impressions soon.

  8. ok well...where to start?

first thing i should mention is that this game has like, jokingly insanely good flow. i can't stress that enough. if you constantly go over the speed boosters, or use your own speed boost, and don't crash, you're like, in the zone to the next level of being in the zone. like i said, i just can't stress enough how good the flow in this game is.

ok um...level design. well, i dunno, once again, i guess when designing the levels, they had one thing in mind. flow. the game is just soooo smooth. the level design compliments the speed of the game so well. like, turns are just done so well, there can even be some hard turns, like back to back to back to back 90 degree turns, and you can pull them all off without losing any speed what so ever, you sorta have to see it to know what i mean, but really, the best way to describe it would be well...perfect flow. infact, im just gonna go ahead and say that no game has better flow than this.

as far as the look of the levels go, well, it wasn't until 8 levels in that a stage was reused, and even then, although they might look the same, they're completely different. i can't stress that one enough also. and im not talking like, Ridge Racer or Blue Storm style, you literally won't ever see a track using any of the same parts ever.

um, music, it's good, i was expecting techno and all, but i got really pumped up when the intro to the game had some really awesome cheezy death metal. there are some guitar tracks and all, but it's mainly electronical music. so far, i'd say 80% of it is great though.

graphics, well, the game looks really nice. really nice. nothing in it looks bad in anyway. although there is pop up for the trees in that Green Plant level. it's very noticeable, but it doesn't really affect you at all since you don't get the trees in your view until they're right in front of you, so you have like, .2 seconds to get a look at them before they're gone. there are a shit load of trees though. aside from that though, i doubt anyone could find something to complain about when it comes to the graphics.

oh, story mode. this is gonna add sooooo much replay value to the game. story mode is pretty much a mission mode, with cinemas in between. anyways, it's not so much that they're hard, cause they're not, but you're just really forced to get your game down. it's never frusterating (well, i haven't seen anything annoying so far), but more of trial and error. really dam rewarding when you get it down though. and for the most part, getting them done right really just consist of having the best possible flow ever, so when you finally pull it off, you're in the zone.

haven't messed around with the customization options yet, but i'll get around to that later.

anyways, that's all for now, if anyone has any question, i'll do my best to answer them.

  9. Thanks for the impressions Lucas.

One question though... I was ready to import, and then you mentioned story mode. How's the language barrier? I know it's a racing game and all, but for story mode it seems like it might be important to know what's being said. Other than that, sure sounds awesome. Lots of flowing going on apparently.

  10. all cinemas are in english. as for the missions in story mode, you pretty much figure out what it is you have to do within your first try.

oh, and for Sidez or Seven Force, since i doubt the US F-Zero AX is compatible with the japanese F-Zero GX, i'd really appreciate it if maybe you guys could get an official GameCube memory card, get the AX file on there (with japanese GX file also), and give me a price. i'd really appreciate it.
